Are Avatar cabs actually good?

My main church rig consists of a GK 700rbII, an SWR 210, and an Avatar B212. I get nothing but compliments on my tone and I have no problem being heard, if that helps any.
I have a 2x10 neo and it is a really nice cab. When you throw in the cost it makes for an incredible deal.
I have a bud w/a 2x12 that he uses for guitar and it's just fine...they are a great deal plus Dave is very helpful and responsive.

Used to? What replaced it and why?
I've owned a B212 Neo for a while and am exceptionally happy with it. Just remember, Avatar uses Eminence drivers in the B212 Neo. This is the same brand of driver some esoteric, boutique cab makers use. Why the difference in price? Well, higher price doesn't always equal greater value. But I realize there are some exceptions.

stupid loud ... I never actually needed more than 1. Sold these off and recently snagged the B210 neo. I've got a home brew 1x15 with a 3015 under it. Nice sounding rig and plenty loud enough. It is a less detailed and my Bag End S15D stack but it has a beefier, more solid low end. Over all, with the B410 and B212, the low's are a little loose in comparison with say a UL or AE4 410. For some folks and some rig's that's a good thing. I prefer it that way as it rounds out the punch in my GK a bit.
What Avatar represents to me is a solid cab that I can get a good tone from and gig through nearly anywhere. Yep - there's gucci'er stuff out there but the Ava-cab's get the job done and they don't give up much.
I have loved my 15" NEO can for two years now. I still can't figure out why they no longer make one?
I have two Avatar 2-10 neos that I stack vertically and they are great. I play upright bass (loud) thru a chrome face SWR 350 and love the sound I get with these cabs. Plenty of punch.
Just because the Bergantino is more expensive,doesn't mean it will sound better. I had a Berg322 and an Accugroove El Wappo Jr before I got the Avatar 410.The Avatar was clearly the superior sounding cabinet. It wasn't even close.I've had the neo 410 for almost 2 years now,and the 212 for about a year,and I stopped looking at other cabinets.I've been outrageously happy with my Avatars.No better cab out there at any price. You can order one today,and have it at you door by Friday, as he typically has everything in stock.
I don't think you can get a clear answer to a subjective question like which cab sounds better. It is possible to comment on construction quality and choice of materials. That being said Avatar builds a great quality cab and has very nice speakers in them. It's up to you whether or not they have the sound you are looking for.
I don't have an Avatar and have never used one-- but Mr. Cap'n, sir, you've just topped yourself in the "avatar" department.
I wish Avatar made an 8x10. It'd be cheaper and easier to move. And while I'm at it, might I say a 412 would also be amazing.
I have asked Dave about building a 6x10 and he won't do it.So an 8x10 is out of the question. The shipping charges would be too much,and would kind of offset the value of these cabinets. I just used my 4x10 and 2x12 as a stack it sounded incredible.Very loud,and very clean. I prefer 2 cabs that I can stack,opposed to a single 8x10 because I can use only one cab if I need too,which in my case is 99% of the time.
Wow - those are awfuly good cab's. While I think the world of Avatar, that's just weird. Those are near bench mark cab's for what they are and the mid's & hi's from the Avatar aren't in the same league. Nor are the lows. The Berg has the most amazing low's when it is powered sufficiently...
GAS was the reason for replacing it. I sold it to try out some Epifani cabs for a while, and now I have some Bergantino cabs. All very good stuff, but at least twice as much as the Avatar cabs. I've very happy with the Berg cabs so far, but if I got into a financial bind I would have no problem ordering a fresh Avatar B410 Neo.
