Are EHX pedals "good"?

Be wary of anyone who makes such blanket statements.

All things considered, though, even the old EHX pedals were durable when compared to some others..... I once crushed a Dano pedal flat by stepping on it harder than intended (tripped).

I have used EH pedals for almost decade now and I have never had any problems with `em. If I had to choose only one effects brand that I would be allowed to use I would probably choose EH.
