Are flats worth the money?

Funny, I've used rounds and flats (I prefer flats) and have never torn up frets on either bass or guitar. I am an old fart use TIJF's on basses and archtops. If you dig in they can sound pretty bright on bass. I've never ever had anyone ask what type strings I use on a gig. We are playing bass and its rare anyone gives a crap what we do. This ultimately works to our advantage.

Recent flats convert weighing in. I tried them for the first time about a month ago and I am not sorry I did. I have three basses so finding the extra scratch for fresh strings gets pricey. I figured with the design on flats I might get better value if I move to them. Turns out, it's more than value; the tone kills.

So I put Chromes on my Stringray and loved 'em. Next, the five string will get some, and then finally my T40.
