Samurai argues that Mk.gee's bad sounds work in the context of what he's trying to do, and Sor Hands argues the opposite.

And if you find yourself saying "I'vd never heard of the Mk.gee fellow, maybe I should check him out," I would say don't bother. His current music is some kind of pseudo pop that uses 80s synth sounds as nostalgia bait.
The music, to my ear, is shallow beyond that retro synth hook, with nothing meaningful happening. He tries to spice this up with weird sound effects, which to me fall flat. To Samurai Guitarist's assertion that the sounds work in context, I might give it that, if the music was good. But it isn't.
