Are the Grammys still relevant?

Apologies if my subsequent rant misunderstood your point about being political. Many of my pet peaves got stirred up by this thread, and I’ve been stuck in the snow is Seattle for days.
I can appreciate many forms of music I would never actually listen to. I get along with many musicians from all walk of life and music styles.
It does get under my skin when any of the "popular" artists go "political" or "controversial" because they know they will be more in the spotlight for it. Be on the news more. Just look who was the most controversial at any of the last awards show. That is mostly what they talk about in review of the show.
It's also easy for me to get on my soapbox about my disagreements with someone's views on something. I guess we all get that way about some things.
I love the fact that I can meet other musicians and have a common thing, the bass or the music and we can discuss and enjoy without beating each other up because we may think differently about things.

One of the saddest things is to get to know one of your heroes in music or art to only find out they are human just like you and have flaws.
