The sad thing is there are a lot of people who buy into and idolize the Hollywood propaganda machine.Agreed. It's actually amusing when a group like the music or film elite, which includes some truly horrible people, become the self-appointed moral compass of the world.
OkI don't know who that Chris Sapleton is. Is he another guy that wears a cowboy hat indoors and sings about how good it was to hang out in the old days? I'm pretty sure Donald Glover would sell out any number of venues as fast as anything if he was panning for the almighty buck, and his This Is America wasn't "some rap song", it was a bit more substantial a collaborative artwork than most rap, and he spreads the credit. But you keep enjoying your big ticket seller whoever he is.
The Grammy's left out Reggie Lucas from the memorandum section and people aren't happy with that. When I saw Miles in 1972, it was Lucas that blew my mind. (Cosey being too weird to relate too...)
You're wrong. Likes, memes and such is nothing more than exposure. Which has been prevalent in popular music for decades. The "leaked" stories about parties and destroyed hotel rooms, Madonna talking about her crotch or how many times your video was on MTV, all pretty much the same thing with different technology.
Yea, low talent sure wasn’t something I was thinking last night.I'm not understanding all the animosity. Maybe I'm missing something...and I'm usually the "get off my lawn" guy! ;-) I watched the whole show (with a tall vodka, ok 2 of those) and appreciated that there are a bunch of talented artists, some that I like, some that I don't, and a couple of "new" ones I hadn't heard previously who I'm going to check out more of. Specifically, I thought H.E.R. was great and Brandi Carlile was awesome, and I didn't know of either of these two prior to last night.
Even though I personally wouldn't listen more to quite a few who performed last night, many are extremely talented and I'd give up one of my tall vodkas to have a fraction of that talent. I actually thought last night's Grammy Awards were the best I've seen in years. Oh, I should note that I don't pay any attention to the "award" part. ;-)
I asked for it!
Is that you Mr. Roachclip? What do you want? Good Grammy or good taste? .
I know I know there is to be No Disagreements Displayed. What amazed me about the This Is America EVENT was that the music didn't drag the rest of the collaborators down, like, the dance itself was super top notch (that little troop of African kids wow) and the camera style, setting, etc etc, youve got Japanese AND African influences there, and Caribbean music in the intro and gospel sections. amazing. As someone who grew up in a music that didn't value songs much, Song Of The Year can be anything that's in the area of 3:30. From the industry's viewpoint, This Is America is an excellent choice. I could't tell you what it was last year or any year...Um...okay your honor.
Judge much? What about the music?
I'm right and you're wrong-how does that feel? You're wrong for saying I'm wrong. You can disagree, but saying I'm wrong is a slap in the webface and just plain...well, wrong!
fail fall forward

I thought you may have been quoting Cheech and Chong’s “Ashley Roach clip “ character who said in a skit ... “ hey man, whatcha want now? Good grammar or good taste .”

"Music shouldn't be political?" Care to elaborate on that?Garbage awards show for garbage music put on by garbage people. Self congratulating award ceremonies make me want to vomit.
It's all political. Music shouldn't be.
Yea, why should we have to put up with the likes of Johnny Cash, Marvin Gaye, Janis Joplin, Steve Earle, Ted Nugent, The Cranberries, Megadeath, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Merle Haggard, Black Sabbath, John Lennon, the Von Trapp family, John Prine, Edwin Starr, Brandy Carlile, Bob Dylan, the Dead Kennedies, Billie Holiday, Neil Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the Sons of the Pioneers, U2, System of a Down, Pete Seeger and Leonard Cohen?"Music shouldn't be political?" Care to elaborate on that?
