In both the bass and guitar world back in the eighties/nineties there were just a handful of instruments bearing players signatures . Many artists were directly involved with their development and no doubt offered an alternative to the standards produced at the time . Roll on thirty years plus and the market is now saturated with models with barely any alteration from regular models yet are marketed in association with well known artists .
It would be interesting to find out from others here if they feel the term 'signature' has become too watered down now and is just an easy marketing tool just to shift product.
