Are these guages crazy? Am I crazy?

I like the thickness of the D string, so would it be weird to have a .060 as a G? And would .060 and .065 be a big enough difference between the G and D, or would it even matter? I would like to have a .055 as G, but that is not a option. Bummer.

you gotta be careful with uneven tension on the neck. when the string gauge is increased, the neck bends, if only some of the strings tension is increased then the neck can warp into different shapes
i'd suggest if you want to experiment with thicker strings then thicken all of them.

Wow - wicked high tension.

At .055 for G you are likely beyond 60 pounds. Nearly twice 'normal'.

With traditional intervals you'd be looking at a .124 for E - in a balanced tension set you'd be at .130 for E.

Ive put a set of DÁddario meduim chromes on my bass recently. They are .050 .070 .085 .105 I like em.

055 is a standard G string for Fender flats with a 105 E. So we know at least Fender basses (and possibly only the P basses) can handle that no problem.
