I'm building a custom bass and I need the neck, looking at ebay found those Kmise necks

I'm not sure if they're good, but also, I don't want to spend 150 or more in an original squier o mighty mite neck

I've bought two "off shore" necks, and both were good. I bought a strat neck for a project for around 40 bucks and it was very nice. The frets needed some work on the ends, but I've bought finished basses where that was the case. The other was again a guitar neck and was actually a Kmise brand, and it came nearly perfect. I think they are just fine personally.

that would be my guess, but TBH: i haven't purchased one...yet!!

OP: i'm looking at them as well for a particular parts-in-motion instrument i've been playing. i wish i could help "with experience" but i can't re: those necks. however, i have some chinese axes and a few chinese made parts which are great little pieces. depending on the 'tarriff wars' outcome(s) those pieces are likely to become more expensive so i'd advise you to move on your choices. (i should do the same!).

i hope your project works out for you --- good luck!

I bought one and stuck it on a P bass body. Never had any issues with it. The first one I ordered had a little divot on the overhanging part of the fretboard. They sent me a replacement and told me to keep that one.

I enjoy these gambles from time to time and even use them as an excuse to practice my fretwork. But like any other gamble, don't do it if you can't afford to lose.

Bear in mind that the stability of the wood and the quality of the truss rod won't become apparent until it's spent months under string tension and gone through a change of season or two. I've had reasonably good success but I did have one that started to kink/ski-jump in less than a year.

Interesting point about the potential impact of the Tariff Wars (which sounds like a terrible movie but still better than those prequels).

I purchased one 5-string neck from KMISE at Ebay, and so far so good. Indeed, the end of the frets need some small work, nothing major. Mine was almost perfect and only few frets needed some touch.

The truss rod works fine, and the general quality is above from what we can expect for the price. I would buy it again if needed.

Bear in mind that 5-string necks from KMISE and almost every other chinese factories are intended for wide string spacing basses. So if you're using a 19mm or 18.5mm spacing ( Or 3" total string spacing at bridge ), this will suit you fine.
