Are Wish Basses getting any better?

THATS that guy who makes them, PLAYING the bass...

correct, they have no truss rod, i think the bridge is held on only by tension, the electronics are pretty much as bare minimum and low quality as humanly possible,
and that video sounds so incredibly horrible to me, that it hurts.

I apologize if there are people on here who like wishbasses, this is purely my opinion not fact, If you find enjoyment and value from these low cost instruments, by all means power to you, but that is my .02. I am also not particularly thrilled with their aesthetics, though that says nothing about their quality as an instrument, so thats not important.

If you look through his page and read his thoughts on bass making and such he doesn't really come across as one trying to hone his craft. I think a Wish will always be just that, a Wish bass. His basses and peoples opinions will probably always remain the same, that is unless your opinion changes.

if you don't believe me that's fine, i didn't buy it to impress anyone. i like odd stuff, and this def struck me that way. i already own three other basses, and gig regularly with them.

apparently it doesn't need a truss rod due it's construction.
yes the finish sucks.
i like minimal electronics, i don't use any pedals or effects in my playing.
i haven't found ay problems with it yet. i just got it a week ago.

Well, they just may...

Here's what Mr. Wish himself posted in his ebay auctions:

"Note. At the present time, i am planning to make up to 1000 of these and then decide if i want to sell the company. Getting near retirement age. So that means there will only be about 70 more of these under these conditions, at these prices. There has been no real interest in buying the brand name, so far, and the economy is not doing all that well, as you may have noticed.

Here is the deal. One years gross will get you the brand name, patterns to 70 basses, the website wishbass.com. my customer files and a course in how to make instruments my way. I think one person could make about 200 basses a year, you see what they sell for. I make a little over a hundred a year, myself.

This would be a great opportunity for a mechanically inclined person who has a real desire to work for themselves.

Thanks for your interest and support."

So depending on who buys the company (if anyone), we could see the attention to details improve a bit...

I don't think that the caliber of bass-playing of any luthier has any bearing on the quality of his instruments.
