The gear matters far less to the audience than you think it does.




We can't tell how they sound from the photos. I'd take a great sounding band wearing street clothes over a spiffy-looking mediocre-sounding group.

I know/have seen a hell of a lot of cover bands who cant play in the same key together get great reactions from people who aren't musicians because they play 1) heavier than the original, 2) slightly faster than the original and 3) have a singer who thinks he is the next Axl/Lee Roth/Bono.

I've also seen some of the finest bands/groups you are likely to hear be slated by other musicians. Ignorance,it seems, is bliss!
Oh yea, I'd have no problem using a squire. I played a Hohner LX90B live for years.

I've never seen a squier that really looks like (let alone feels/sounds like) a true quality instrument. I wouldn't play one live because I can't stand poor sound when there's people listening to me, and i'm sorry, but you can't pass off a squier as a superior quality instrument.

Squier are coming up with some surprisingly high quality models lately.

Betcha if you try a new Classic Vibe you'll get a much better, well, vibe, than whatever your previous Squier experience was with.

Perhaps not "true quality", whatever that might mean to you, but amazing bang-for-buck value and just starting to give some of the less stellar Fenders a run for their money.

Edit: I see a Squier Affinity in your profile's "previously owned gear". If that is your yardstick of Squier quality, seriously do check out the Classic Vibe 60s Precision and then tell me if they haven't come a long way! Probably not "blow your socks off" material compared to your MIA Fender, but definitely worth a peek.
