Are you a one bass guy, or not?

I understand this. I play in a hardcore band and have been using one bass for the better part of last year. Recently somebody with a passive bass played through my rig and I was kind of dismayed at how good it sounded. I picked up a similar passive bass. I haven't been able to use that yet. If it sounds better it is likely that it will become my number one. I tend to stick with something approximating the sound in my head and then I'm good until I hear something better. There's very little time to change basses between songs under 2 minutes played back to back.

I have my main bass - Ibanez GWB1005, but i also got 2 different basses, whitch i use in different situations as my alternate.
found the sound i want by throwing in a whopping great capacitor into the Ibanez tone circuit and that's it. can concentrate on playing the music and tweaking the Marshall modelling amp
The most I have ever had at one time is 10 or 11. Several years ago, I decided to sell off the fleet and buy REALLY nice basses. I ended up with a Sadowsky. I play that bass all the time. The only reason I have a second bass is, if I am getting paid to play, I always have a backup in case something weird happens. I've only had a bass fail on stage a few times in 30+ years, but it can happen.
I just sold my backup and bought a Modulus Genesis. I may play it for a while as my main bass.

my first bass (85 rb850) needs a root for a battery box and for me to rewire the preamp but then it'll be in the rotation

I definitely have a number one, the only one I've used on stage in 5 years or more. I have a fretless that might make an appearance if we add more than a couple songs that 'need' it. And recently bought a 5 string that I'm still trying to bond with.
My go to bass for gigs is my Mike Lull UV4. However, i always bring a "just in case" backup. Usually my Lull TXB4
TIL there are one-bass guys on talk bass dot com. I tip my hat to y'all. Seems like the norm around here trends toward overkill, and I've succumbed to some of that myself. Still, for the rock band I'm in, I stick with one. For the Jazz/R&B singer, I've got to have 2 (DB + BG).
I'm one bass for everything I do by choice. Had a small herd for many years but they mostly stayed in their cases so they got sold. I do intend to get a duplicate for backup but I've been saying that for going on 20 years...lol
Definitely not. I'm not nearly as much of a gear hound as I was in the past, but I still like to have a little variety
