Are you in an oddly assorted band?

Vetchking Here:

Black and white band.

I just got back from Jazz Big band percussion school.
North Texas

The guitar player didn't even have an amp or electric guitar. He just came back from Spain studying Classical guitar.

The black bass player:
He couldn't spell his name, But he could play anything he could think of or hum.

The keyboard player had no amp or keyboards he lived under a Crane.

4 truly different people, 4 walks of live.

We never should have ever been in a room together.

The band was amazing........... Flat out Amazing.

We practiced 5 to 6 nights a week for 4 to 6 hrs per night.

a year and a half later.......... Get out the way........

One liked women? Well, whatever they liked, I must admit, they were good at making catchy tunes.

The tunes and the band were put together by a French expatriate named Jacques Morali, who has since died (AIDS related).

Funny, because when they came out (I mean in true sense of the term), I was 10 and totally sexual unaware, and I found them cool, as I thought they looked like action figures.

Years later I learned about sexuality and of course homosexuality and that was the end of my admiration for the Village People.

Ah what fun.

Now for a trivia bit: did you know that one of the Village People was a certain Glenn Hughes? Glenn Hughes... any one? Black Sabbath? Deep Purple? Well, it's not the same guy at all.

That's fine. I hate bourbon. But if Catholics aren't Christians, than there were few, if any Christians in western Europe until about 500 years ago.

exactly!

i liked the way you didnt actually listen to me.. or the gentleman argeeing with me.

AHEM

US ENGLISH USE CHRISITAN TO MEAN ANGLICAN!

well would you say..

ah gibson? ricks? fenders?, musicanmans? dont matter there all basses!

no..

to us being anglish, of corse we associate "christian" with our own church.. as that is the default of chrisianity where we live.. we name methodists, pentacostals individually.. i should have understood that being across the sea, i should have adapted my launguage..

but then where do you draw the line.. ? are mormons chrisitan? yes ? no? is it cos their beliefs are different.. becuase i consider the differences of anglican and catholics as equally vast.. what about because mormons have extra scripture from regular christians? then the deutrocannon arguement comes in for catholicism!

these may not be things you consider as being very different as you are undoubtedly athesist in my mind, but they are.. muslims belive in jesus does that make us chrisitans? no..

if your point was that catholicism is a strain of christianity.. then very true... but i suggest you read more clearly..:spit:

sorry! friends?

i apologise for my theology degree! :D

and my failure of english

now lets get on the subject that your country is 50 different ones pretending to be one..

Hah!...

SINGER: 29 year old platinum blonde 'cute' girl with an amazing voice. Pretty normal looking and awesomely devoid of any musical scene generalizations.

DRUMMER: 43 year old asian dude that has been playing punk since 1983. Looks like the lost far-eastern member of The Ramones... always in tight jeans and a leather jacket.

GUITARIST: 25 year old 'punk rock dude'. Bald with a beard, septum ring and a few tattoos. Always rocks a GG Allin shirt.

BASS(me): 26 year old with 3 foot dreadlocks, beard, lotsa tattoos and some piercings. Total crusty punk.

Me and the guitarist come out and everyone expects something heavy... then we start and it's cutsey 60's inspired power-pop. Damn the institutions of musical aesthetic!!

Drummer - Comic Book store Manager
Guitarist - Landscaper
Guitarist - Project Manager
Bassist (me) - Network Administrator.

Politics and religion are scattered pretty well.
We are all over the place with influences and taste too.

Drummer loves prog rock, one guitarist loves country, the other listens to 60's and 70's classic rock and I'm an old 80's guy.

You honestly consider Anglican and Catholic to be very distant? That's bizarre. Anglican/Episcopalian is basically Catholic but without the pope. I grew up Catholic (I'm not anymore), but I've been to Episcopalian services before. They were basically exactly the same. Anglicanism and Catholicism are two of the most similar of Christian sects.

Way more similar than any of the other protestant faiths from a theological point of view. And yes, Mormons are Christians. They believe that Jesus Christ is the son of their god. Same basics, different details.

these may not be things you consider as being very different as you are undoubtedly athesist in my mind,
Guess again. I'm no atheist.

muslims belive in jesus does that make us chrisitans? no..
They believe in his existence and spiritual relevance. Muslims, however, do not believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God or a divinity.

if your point was that catholicism is a strain of christianity.. then very true... but i suggest you read more clearly..:spit:
Catholicism is one of the original sects of Christianity. Another very old sect is Eastern Orthodox. Anglicanism/Episcopalianism came later (specifically under King Henry VIII of England), as did Lutheranism, Presbyterianism, Baptist churches, Methodists, Congregationals, etc. Christianity is an overarching religion that has many sects, each with their differences, but they all share belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God and divine. The other two Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Islam, do not share this belief in Christ's divinity. They, too, have their differences and contrasting schools of thought.

sorry! friends?
Sure, but if you want to continue this conversation about religion, we'll probably have to take it to PM's, as it's a bit of a thread hijack and religion isn't looked upon very well as a discussion topic anyway.

Sort of. More like how the Provinces of Canada are all part of Canada, though state governments might have a different amount of relative power than Canadian Provincial governments.

AT ALL

AT ALL!

AT ALL!!!

if you wouldnt mind actually reading my post's and then making a logical and preferably informed decisicion.. and perhaps PM'ing me about them as you seem rather erratic and neurotic..

i told you i used english shorthand chrisian meaning anglican.. i never once debated that catholics where christian and you wont drop it or acknowledge that ive said it..

and im not debating your experience with the sects. im just saying i am not qualified in a anything but i am in this area not just my religion but COMPARIVE RELIGION and it is to a degree standard. so mention whichever sect you like moonies.. order of the cross i know the differences between all of them..

go to post 30.. look up the stuff you dont understand on wikipedia.. and argue with me that it isnt a world of difference..

TO EVERYONE ELSE

im sorry to get all angry or to mention religion... i just mentioned that my band is a multifaith band and im proud of them.. i came here to talk bass. and i apologise for any hurt feelings

inshallah i hope we can work together toward complete and intergration of everyone of every religion and the non religious too and every section of politics and we can all get along, under 1 frequency! =D
