Are you in an oddly assorted band?

Singers: A White lawyer, a Nigerian grad student, a couple of grandmothers and a Canadian middle school teacher.

Guitar: a 50 something blues/rock guy.

Piano: a 20 something Nigerian breaking into the music industry

Drums: a late 20s Black guy county employee who is very much into John Mayer

Keyboards: mid teens Chinese guy

Violin: his baby sister

Bass: That would be me a Black postal carrier who just qualified for AARP. Who 30 years ago played sax in marching and funk bands.

Yes it is a church band.

Me: Average hight, socially awkward, music store employee with curly hair, some sort of band shirt and jeans or shorts (depending on the weather)
Listens to everything from punk to prog

Drummer: 6'3, outgoing, short hair, skate shoes and brand t-shirts with a flannel jacket overtop, works at a grocery store and listens to metal and funk

Vocalist/Guitarist: short, somewhat cocky redhead that rides a dirt bike and plays flashy leads on a Jackson V, listens to metal and is semi-employed by a roofing company, dresses like a redneck gangster

Guitarist: drummers younger brother, likes to longboard dresses similar to his brother and is about my hight. Likes metal and classic rock and has short hair too, unemployed

Ages range from 13-16
We don't have any religious views

We play what I would call Melodic Modern Thrash along with 80s metal and classic rock covers

...My bandleader won't tell anybody who he works for, but it involves electronics and the government...

Sorry, I just found this funny. Sounds like he works at Best Buy installing car stereos in Government vehicles. :D

My band is pretty congruent (all early 30's males), but we all have different jobs and outlooks on life. Research science, graphic arts prof, and sound engineer all to be found.

Guitar/Singer: Graphic design and operates a printing press, clean-cut, skinny and frail, from Moscow, listens to indie music, kind of hipsterish.

Bass: Former pharmacy manager but now volunteers at a local haunted house doing construction and acting (technically, I'm a professional carnie now), mohawked and bearded and homeless-looking, large and strong, from Texas, listens to everything but modern country, kind of a punk.

Drums: Stagehand, bushy hair, large and strong, from Texas, listens to punk and folk, definately a hippie/activist.

Keyboard: Web designer, clean cut (used to have enormous dreds and looked like Charles Manson), skinny but strong, from Texas, listens to soft rock and electronica, bizaaro conspiracy theorist.

I think it's a strange group of people. Some overlap in musical tastes is about all we have on common. We do NOT discuss politics.

Drummer: 23 years old(I'm guessing), grad student in engineering.
A year or so ago, we played out with our old drummer, a 21 year old college student. After the set, someone walks up to me and asks if we're all related. I comment no, the person says that she was sure I was the father, the gutarist was my little brother and the drummer was my son. We laughed about that one for a long while.......:bassist:

Young band, all 15-16

Singer/Rhthym: Big-headed (physically, not like 'cocky') guy, bit of a chav, likes Pixies, Velvet Revolver and Rush. Me and him always have a great time, good friend of mine. Plays a white SG and brings some of the social high-ups.

Drummer: Lovable yet cool short scruff. Annoying stuff like bags breaking, food spilling etc keep happening to him, though he's not clumsy. Quite introverted, but his heart's in the right place. Loves his cowbell (no euphanism) to death.

Gutiarist/Backing: Indie boy. Also scottish. Plays Indie and Acid-Funk on a Zacc Wylde (spelling?!) Les Paul and ACTUALLY pulls it off. Brings the Indie crowd. But is not way out-there, he's down to earth and a great laugh. Brilliant musician.

Bass/Backing: That'd be me. Bit of an oddball I guess? Slightly emotionally disadvantaged (depression & insomnia, as well as being susceptable to addiction) rhcp fanboy with a ginger mohican. I love to jam and typically play agressive fingerstyle or aggresive slap funk/punk basslines with lots of energy or occasionally swagger. I love me my vintage music and instruments. I have a lot of friends and try to convince them all to come along. Never not up for a good time, big time heavyweight :P Love playing, end of!

That's us. Misfits all round :D
