Are You Strickly A Bass Player ?

Fooling around on guitar, and singing. Like JimmyM said, being able to sing is really important. It's a shame I suck at it.

Kit would be my 2nd after bass, then I fool around with guitar, keyboard/piano, steel pans, harmonica, theremin, bongos... Erm. Triangle? =P

EDIT - I also try to sing sometimes. Not the best at it. I'll stick to real instruments. ;D

I play bass and sing currently, but I dabble in electric and acoustic guitar at home. I've also wanted to learn to play percussion at some point.

I played guitar (lead and rhythm) for 15 years before I picked up my first bass 4-5 years ago. Currently, I play about 1/3 of the songs in our current set on guitar. I also sing lead on about 1/2 of the songs and backup on the rest. I had 6 years of piano lessons that were almost entirely wasted (sorry Mom). I play ukulele for fun. I have a great desire to learn to play the drums, but I think my brain is full.

I've PLAYED (past tense) piano, clarinet, bass clarinet, percussion and guitar, none at the level of mediocrity I've attained on the bass guitar. I'd like to learn mandolin, but my hands are too big. I'd like to learn ukelele so I could play while my wife paddles me around the lake in a canoe.

BUT, if I consider auditing another instrument, I stop and think about how it'll take precious time away from my bassings.

RE singing, I love to sing, but I can't seem to sing and play bass at the same time.

I consider myself a strictly good speller, btw.

STRICTLY speaking, bass -- upright and electric -- is the only instrument I gig with.
But I also have basic skills in guitar and piano, can sing background in a pinch, and can play a simple trumpet or valve trombone line if needs be (I played French horn "seriously" in high school). I can also play utilitarian swing or rock beats on a drum kit, thanks to my son's decision to play drums - hence a set's in the house, and dad couldn't NOT mess around with it.

I love playing in a band but sometimes I just love to go in the basement and drag out the ole' tascam and I record my own music. Now if I just could sing

Bass is my main instrument (learned upright first), but bass trombone used to be my main before the switch many, many moons ago. Still play the bass trombone weekly in a community band to keep up and have fun. Can play most low brass instruments.

Also play percussion and used to play kit.

Wanting to learn jazz piano and cello.

I started on guitar 30 some odd years ago. I got serious on the bass recently. I have the lead singing role in my current band. I dabble on keys, drums, banjo, violin, mandolin. I will say this, drummers get the best workout.

Saxophone was my first instrument, played it from grade school through high school, was halfway decent, but haven't played in more than 2 decades.
Can do a bit on guitar and keys.
Dabbled briefly with violin and trombone.
Can sing reasonably well (have sung in bands).

Love the bass first and best.

I actually started learning bass on an old acoustic guitar. Eventually I picked up a real bass and never gave other instruments much thought. I thought maybe about picking up piano to improve my writing but never actually got around to it....So Yeah Just bass....does anything else actually matter?

I use guitar for composition. With bands I only play bass.
I am a first chair vocalist. I consider voice an instrument. Most of the studio session work that I get is for vocals.

I also played Bassoon for about 5 years, but I haven't picked one up in a long enough amount of time that I'd be completely lost if you were to hand one to me.

Nice! I played bassoon, along with a plethora of brass, percussion and winds, though most of high school. Actually I was our schools only bassoonist. I was almost thrown out of the orchestra for burning the cork on the bocal (it was high school, use your imagination... I did!) but as I said, I was the only one who could play it. And it turned out that schools music teacher and I had something besides music in common. I learned to read tenor clef as well.

To answer the OP; I play drums, keys and guitars fairly well, but bass and vocals is what I do the best and most often.
