Here is a brief list of things that CAN be creepy if you're creepy, and AREN'T creepy if you're not creepy:
- Asking a lady for her phone number
- Smiling at someone
- Playing your instrument in the audience
- Leaving too big of a tip
- Just about ANYTHING
I think the only thing cheesier/creepier is the lead singer who doesn't play an instrument who also wears a headset mic, especially they also go into the crowd.Ok, so let me say right up front that this might be an uncomfortable topic... or humorous depending on how secure you are with yourself.
So, it seems every guitarist or bassist who discovers wireless has to use this new found freedom to wonder off the stage and into the audience. This is, of course, because the audience members are going to be amazed that the the guitarist or bass player is standing right there next them playing, right? They get to see the amazement of your weekend worrier talent and instrument right up close, right? WRONG!!! Look, if you’re some hot notorious talent that fans are clamoring to get a piece of then go ahead and take that glory walk through the crowd. However, if you’re just a bar band guy who gets no attention after the set than keep your butt on the stage and enjoy the fact that you and your fellow guitarists are free to move about without getting awkwardly twisted up. Take this opportunity to up your arena moves and stage presence. If the chicks are not flirting with you between sets than don’t invade their space with wireless abandon. And guys don’t like other guys unusually close either. The only exception to this might be a deliberate gander out front during sound check. Unfortunately, these instructions don’t come with wireless units and someone had to tell you![]()
You do realize that the the people you're interacting with can decide for themselves if you are creepy or not right? You don't get to decide for them. They might be creeped out and not say anything.
Which is the case for most creepy people. They lack self-awareness, or for some reason just don't 'get' social norms.I would add that people creeped out rarely address the "creep" with their creepiness. If you lack self-awareness, you'd likely never notice.
People might be totally creeped out and not say a word. How is this a useful comment? My mum is 91 years old, is in a wheelchair and has dementia. She really isn't involved in this discussion
Bottom line, if people are telling you that you're creepy, maybe you should learn how to conduct yourself, or assume they know nothing.

I can only speak for myself, but yesTl;dr. You might be taking this too seriously. I’d guess most of us would agree with that.....![]()
Ever wonder why you talk to someone about something in front of you Amazon Echo and the next day you see ads for it on your Internet sites? That is creepy! Don't even start me on the security "bugs" in the Echo show with the camera. Don't put it in your bedroom!Actually I'm not sure being a wireless guy with an instrument in a band is that creepy anyway. The really creepy wireless guy is the one who has your house bugged and is watching you right now...
So just admitting you don't look cool and never trying even a little to do it is the way to go? Pfft! Kill me if that ever happens to me!I think this reinforces my pre-existing beliefs on life:
You never, ever look as cool as you think you do. Probably the inverse, even.
I bet this crowd loved it:
Perhaps stop trying to be cool and just have fun? Coolness is supposed to be effortless, after all.So just admitting you don't look cool and never trying even a little to do it is the way to go? Pfft! Kill me if that ever happens to me!
