Arm/hand specialist reco needed

Hey all,

I've suffered from ulnar nerve compression/syndrome on and off for a few years and a few weeks ago it came back but stronger this time. I had a whole battery of tests done last time it struck and worked with a chiro, neurologist and my GP but to no avail. They knew it was there but despite all the tests they could not pinpoint the location of the actual irritation/compression. We did determine that there are no bone spurs in my elbow and that the nerve was inflamed somewhat but by the time we got through the last of the inconclusive tests my arm/hand was gradually getting better on it's own so they didn't want to prod around anymore.

Anyway, my point is that since it has come back again and I don't wish to go through all those tests again with no real results and would very much like to avoid surgery, which the non-musician doctors don't see as a big deal, I'm looking for a hand/arm specialist and/or a doctor that works with musicians.

I live in northern VA but am willing to look into anyone in the Washington metro area.

Any suggestions would be great!

Cheers!

I doubt you'll get someone that specialises on musicians.

But you would probably be surprised at how many might play an instrument.

Anyways, seeing they will know roughly the areas which could be causing it, would you not be able to get an MRI scan to have a better look about?

Thus far none of the doctors I've seen have played an instrument. I've already had two MRI's, an x-ray, EKG and a needle EKG... :hmm:
