ART S8 Eight Channel Mic Splitter vs XLR Splitter Cables

I've never utilized xlr splitters before and need to invest in a system to send a signal to our digital mixer for our in ear mix and to the FOH for times when we aren't using our own PA system. We'll be playing at a church in a few weeks with a provided PA but no in ear system. My question.....is there a significant different between using an xlr splitter like this (https://www.amazon.com/GLS-Audio-Pa...pID=51O0ixuu2ML&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch) as opposed to a rack mount splitter like the Art S8 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...eASIN=B0012NS7HM&linkCode=as2&tag=haronixo-20).

According to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed], a mic can be split as much as 3-4 times, and the worst that can happen is hum and buzzes if the differences in impedance between the two destination consoles is too great. Adding a transformer to the split (as the ART does) prevents this issue.

As long as your two mixers are your own system, you might try ordering a couple of the splitters and see what happens. However, if you will be using the system at different venues and plugging one of the splits into who knows what, the ART would probably be a better choice.

I have used the ART and had good results in the past. Had 2 racked up with a Tascam 16ch interface. Worked great.

The Art provides an isolated split which means, in short, you're less likely to run into complications with grounding, signal levels, etc. Go with the Art - I have a couple of them for the same purpose and they work flawlessly. Maybe not a consideration for you, but, the Art let's phantom power pass through the non isolated output.

We use 3 S8's for our IEM rack and they work great. One side goes to our setup and one side goes to a snake so the FOH gets a straight unaffected signal.

you could also go this route.. so you don't have to invest in a ton of cables on top of the ART !!

We've had two S8's for the past month and a half, oddly we lost one of the iso-outs on one of the channels. Sweetwater is nice enough to exchange it for a new one rather than going through warranty for it. The iso is good for you if you're going into a separate mixer, etc. Less chance of noise or problems.

As long as they are TRS (XLR) splits and not 300 feet apart, you should be fine doing that.
