Howdy Friends,

What art (in all forms but music, for the purpose of this particular forum) have you been moved or inspired by lately? I recently found out that the late Dr. Jack Kevorkian did some painting while in prison, O.T.I.S.: Odd Things I've Seen: The New England Grimpendium: Jack Kevorkian Paintings I also got interested in a indie erotica film project.

I'm really digging graffiti style art. Not necessarily the destructive tagging, but Banksy style stuff.

Street Art is pretty rad. Have you seen the doc 'Exit Through The Gift Shop"?
Its the story of Thierry Guetta, who was there filming when street art began to take off. He helped out a lot working with Shepard Fairey and others. Eventually he got to meet and work with Banksy. They convinced him to put all of this footage together to make a documentary, and it turned out like a music video. Then Banksy convinced Guetta to do some street art of his own. He took on the name Mr Brainwash and immediately started doing these huge shows selling his works for a crapload of money.

I'm understandably big on art by folks with Autism. My avatar, in fact, is my favorite bit of art by a person on the spectrum ( the avatar explained! )

There are so many artists I really like but I think Donna does my favorite things on canvas right now.

When I was in Lahaina, HI I stumbled upon a gallery containing the works of Vladimir Kush.
He does some pretty cool modern surrealist stuff.

I've been researching a lot about musical synesthetes recently and have just started checking out some artists/painters who experience this as well:
Kilford the Music Painter, Kandinsky (allegedly had this) & Joan Mitchell (not Joni are a few. VanGough is also thought to have had it.

I wish I hadnt left my digital camera wedding present behind.
I saw this really cool, long (lengthwise) painting right out front that drew me in. It seemed like a good time to try out the panorama feature on my new camera.

A conference we had here by a master student, the subject itself was not something I found particularly interesting, but the way he loved what he was doing and the passion you could see kind of gave me extra motivation (It was already the plan but I feel way less "scared" about it) to pursue my studies once I finish my Ba. next year.

I saw your earlier post about your avatar. Very cool!
Lots of people on the spectrum are synesthetes too. I follow quite a few folks on Twitter w/ Asperger's and synesthesia and have read some of the most insightful and amazing blogs...a glimpse at what they experience in their lives. Very moving.

I recently saw the Windows and Mirrors travelling exhibit on the Afghan war, which is very moving. I would recommend seeing it if it comes to your area.

A few years back, I went to the centennial retrospective Dali exhibit. Extremely impressive, but not particularly emotional.
