As a bassist, who are your favorite guitarists?

One of the most underrated guitarist has to be John Squire of the Stone Roses and Seahorses.

What got me playing guitar!

Then when he left The Stone Roses, Aziz Ibrahim played guitar for them. there is NOTHING Aziz can't play. I have this from first hand experience because he now plays guitar for my band, we always get him doin Tom's solos n' that from RATM (who is also one of the best guitarist ever) :-D more than chuffed!

In no particular order:

Frank Zappa
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
Steve Howe
Terry Kath
David Gilmour
Jimi Hendrix
Carlos Santana
Steve Vai
Adrian Belew
Johnny Winter
John Goodsall
Scott Henderson
Alan Holdsworth
Tommy Bolin
Ian Anderson (love his acoustic playing)

I could name so many more.

Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien (a.k.a. the Radiohead guys)
Wayne Coyne and Steve Drozd (a.k.a. the Flaming Lips guys)
Tom Morello
John Frusciante
Andy Summers

The guys from A7X have sweet tone, but I don't like their music.

Frank Zappa
Jeff Beck
Jimmy Page
Steve Howe
David Gilmour
Jimi Hendrix
Carlos Santana
Johnny Winter
Tommy Bolin
Zal Cleminson(WOW Alex Harvey!!)

No one, maybe I missed it, but no Van Halen.. now granted over the last 30+ years just about every other guitarist I have jammed with has been a EVH clone...

David Gilmour - The most expressive guitarist ever and one who always plays with consideration for every other musician. It must be amazing to play bass in his band.

Alex Lifeson - He succeeds at what is probably the most difficult job of any guitarist - rising to the level of Neil and Geddy. The most underrated guitarist, he's one of my three most favorite because he is just so versatile.

Tommy Emmanuel - His act is just him and his acoustic guitar. But he sounds like an entire band all by himself and is IMO the most skilled guitar player in the world. A friend of mine is a full time professional musician who opened up for Tommy and he said in all seriousness that he didn't think it was possible for a human to play the way he does on guitar. I've watched some of his teaching videos and learned more about playing the bass from them than I have from any other source.
