As a bassist, who are your favorite guitarists?

Jeff Beck(my current fav who I just scored 2 tix for his most recent tour in Chicago in 2 months!!), John McLaughlin, Eric Johnson, Sonny Landreth, Derek Trucks, Tim Reynolds, Bill Frisell, Frank Zappa, Jimmy Page, Steve Howe, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Adrian Belew, Johnny Winter, Scott Henderson, Alan Holdsworth,Tommy Bolin(I got to Play with this amazing guitarist in about 1970 on tour with him...freakin awesome), Danny Gatton (and the rest of the Hellacasters), Roy Buchanan, Ry Cooder, Leo Kotke, Albert King, SRV, Albert collins, Ronnie Earl, Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, and John Scofield,to name a few...Peace...DAcat

I have not seen anyone mention GE Smith, who in addition to being totally bad-ass on guitar, is one of the sweetest, most humble guys in the world to chat with.

And I want to throw in a guy from Austin who some may have heard... Wayne Sutton, formerly of Sister7. Technically proficient, but most of all melodic and soulful. The band Sister7 teamed him with one of my top 5 bass players, Darrell Phillips. An awesome band when they were together.

Oh, and a Midwest indie guy: Eric Loy. Inhabited by the spirit of Michael Hedges, I sometimes think.
