Ashdown 500 EVO II RACK intrigue

Hello everybody!
I've just received the ABM 500 EVOII RC that I've purchased from German megastore Thomann.de.
I've just opened the box and all of a sudden I have a few questions.

1.
It doesn't look like the one that used to appear on Ashdown's website (that now has disappeared in favor of EVOIII range and it is not even in the 'discontinued' section). Mine has a one-piece chrome front panel, with no separate black rack ears and the EQ slide tips are white rubber instead of black, as appears in this photo:

Why is that? Is it not the same machine? What's the difference?

2.
When I use the Tuner output and press the mute button to tune up silently there is still always some sound out of the speaker. This 'mute' switch does not mute totally. I've experienced this with a friend's 500 EVO II head too. Why is that? Am I doing anything wrong?

3.
Another thing is in the box there's a sticker that reads 'made in China'. Is this true???
I seriously believed and had read lots of times that Ashdown was proudly known as English made amplifiers with best quality electronics possible. Now I see this...
My experience with Asian equipment has always been disapointing. I've spent a lot of money in this amp and I don't know how to feel...I wasn't adverted about this at any stage of my purchase. Even in Ashdown's website there's no mention about this...
Now what?

Thanks in advance,
Miguel

upgraded from what? what improvements does it have?

The EVO III's feature a built in compressor, the EVO III's also feature front panel mounted balanced DI out with pre or post EQ switching, a Sub-bass output,a tuner output,FX loop and a line input for the connection of an external sampler or sound source. and there's an optional footswitch selects tube grind on/off,compression on/off. EQ in/out and sub-harmonic generator on/off.

Hey Jauqo....If you can answer, what is the delta between the original EVO and EVO II? I have an unofficial report the EVO II has an upgraded power supply...but have never gotten confirmation of this.

I have an original EVO 500 and think it sounds great...I use it as a back up head...

I don't know but soundwise they are about the same, I have an english made combo and tried the chinese head in the store, instant ashdown bliss!!

hope they will hold well

ps: don't be scared by the made in china because A LOT of manufacturers build things in china . I thinks you need to have about 30% of the amp made inside the country to call it made in.... (USA for example) so even a US made amp has a lot of parts coming from china. that's just the way it is.. but you know I'm also scared by this fact, I prefer to be conservative when buying amps..

ps: for the ashdown lovers, the klystron and the EVO3 share the same preamp ( info coming from martin burrows who answered my questions per mail)

I couldn't answer that question and the mute on the EVO II RC has never been 100% mute.
