Ashdown CTM-30 “Little Stubby”

I emailed Ashdown a couple days before NAMM with the same Q and had a response in a day, but it was a "Lemme get back to you on that..." response which is to say, no response at all.

I just heard back from Mark G. He said they will be in stock at SweetWater soon, but didn’t give an exact date.

As a side note: I may look for a used V4B RI as an option as well.

I would jump on the PF50T but the fact that it doesn’t have any handles and knowing tube heads being hot after say a three hour show or a one hour long set with a quick unload time (aka not enough time to get the amp to cool before packing it away).. putting my hands on a hot amp without a handle isn’t desirable.

Having gigged a PF50T since they came out, this concern is easily avoidable.

With an appropriate case, there is nothing to be worried about. The only parts that get "hot to the touch" are the actual tubes and the output transformer. Tubes being covered by cage prevent contact and the transformer is not going to burn anyone. The amp is handled by the case, exactly how all the PF series SS amps are handled.

I am speaking that one of my friend said he doesn't like it for the price, the other told that the ashdown amps are not his sound.

The LB30 is an underrated little powerhouse. The tone can get old school. But it can clear up nicely. I love that little head.

Vox Have done it quite a lot earlier than that. Like early 60s.

That’s unfortunate. I’ve had the exact opposite experience across the past decade with a pair of UK ABM heads. No failures over hundreds of hours at dozens of venues. Luck of the draw.

I buy up bust ashdowns because they are easy to fix and the tech support is really good.

saw this at NAMM played it but not very long or loud had a good solid growl tone and had decent headroom considering its size.Since all i'll be using it for is home practice amp it should handle that job very easily.

I haven’t had that problem with the pf50t. The tube cage heats up for sure but I’ve picked up to run after practices and shows and it’s cool at the edges where you pick it up. The right bag for it matters, which I’ve located.

What bag did you find? The QSC monitor bag?

Just get the dewalt bag that has enough depth to more than cover amp depth. Don’t have the model number unfortunately. It’s a heavy bag but very stout

I feel that Ashdown's problem is promotion. I'm fairly certain they make good stuff, and this is a good competitor to ampeg's PF tube heads, but I just heard about it now.
