I have a UK made ABM C410T-500 EVO II combo, it's the big brother of this rig. And yes, this would be a great first rig. It's got headroom, the 410t cabs sound great. Plus, it's got the VU meter, which is very nice for gain staging.

well im not too sure about the exact head but it can probs run at 4 ohms easy (dont hold me to that) so aslong as you go for another 8 ohm cab it will run at 4ohms
Depending what you're using it for it should be okay, but it might not be the best option.
Remember you'll only be getting around 150-200W out of the head when it's hooked up to a single 8 ohm cab. (so you'll only be using half of the cabs available power handling). You need to add another 8 ohm cabinet to get the full 307W out of the head and then each cab will still only be getting 150W.

Depending on what type of music you're playing and what type of players you're playing with... I'm a bigger fan of the head than I am of the cab, but that's just a personal preference, so don't take it into consideration. That is a functional combination...
Yes, it can handle another cab... I've used a MAG300 as my main solid-state head since 2004 and it has been a workhorse... Don't get too wrapped up in the watts... Speaker surface area has more to do with volume (more speakers = more volume)... This rig can get plenty loud and has a great sounding EQ... I've used it with numerous cab configurations and it has sounded farily good with all of them. Right now, I am running it with 2 1X12 cabs and it is plenty loud!
