Ashdown MK500

Hey everyone,
I currently own an ashdown MK500 (mark king signiture) head and love the tones i get out of it, especilly the harmonic emphasis or whatever its called :p hehehe

I was wondering if there are any other members who own one and would liek to share there reviews or perhaps setting etc about the this specific English beast!

Cheers!

I own one, and I love it. With my mid forward bass and cab, I tend to cut some around 500, then boost some mid bass and hi mids. I cut the lowest bass slider (30hz?) completely.

Add a touch of harmonic emphasis, and it kills! :)

i i run it with a 4x10 ashdown abm cab. Its got killer tones! I tend to use a sort of smily setting! And the harmonic emphasis on 12 ocklock. Oh i use it with the james lomenzo hyper drive pedal! Since its not a tube amp with the pedal u can get an amazing tube sound tho :)

Yeah indeed! Btw i think it would be killer if this head had a couple of preamp tubes! Also i would liek to hear ur opinion on wheather this head is better than the abm 500 evo 2. Cos i used to own that head, and cant really find a winner when i compare this two :/

I own a black face MK500 and a ABM EVO 500 II.

They really are two different amps.

The MK500 is a Wolverine compared to the EVO.

And yes I'm an Ashdown endorser.

can u be more specific pls ?

The MK500 is very much very high fi and closer to what many would call a modern sounding amp. The MK500 is crisp and very clean and it can get extremely bright if that is your thing. It is a versatile amp that never loses it's modern vibe.

The EVO 500 has more of a round thump to it in comparison to the MK500. The EVO 500 has a warmth that is some what old school but it is a versatile amp as well. But It will not deliver that MK500 zing.

From my experience the Ashdown amp that seems to combine the best of the MK500 and the EVO 500 is the LG1000(the little orange amp).

Also how can ifind a black face mk500? i dont really liek the red colour thats y.

I don't know if it's changed but I was told that there are only three black face MK500's around.

I have one and I was told that James Lomenzo has one and one went to a dealer(not in the states).

Damn cool man. u own one of the three black faced mks. Conserning the little giant, i treid and didnt impress me at all :/ and yes the mk does luck the warmth that the evo has! A good tube emulating pedal does the job tho.

I still cant understand why they dont intruduce the mk500 with a couple of pre amp tubes, to give it some warmth and old school vibe. Hope they do, i would be the first to buy one :)
