Ashdown VS-212-200

Hi guys !

I gigged my VS-212 tonight and I had a lot of good comments about my tone. I played with my GK 400RB, BBE Optostomp always on, Pork Loin pedal for some grit on heavier songs, and the cab was mic'ed with a Sennheiser 421.

I'm still really happy with my cab, I wanted to share my my love of this cab with everybody.

Hi, i'm looking for replace my little Ashdown after 8 15W by a head + cabinet. For this, I trying to found review from the Ashdown VS115 and I want to couple it a head Ampeg PF-350 that isn't a tube amplifer. I c'an't try them but you think it's a good idea ?

And what is the différences between this one

Never tried both together, but that seems like a fine pairing !

Be careful with the cab, the jack input on the back is plastic and sticking out of the cab. I actually broken mine last week when hauling the cab. Pretty easy and cheap repair, but still, be careful.

There is no difference. The first one has the new logo, the second one has the old one. FWIW; I use the 115 with a Traynor YBA-300. It handles the power very well, doesn't fart out or anything. I use a single cab in my Blues bands: I highly recommend it.

Actually, there are differences. I own one of each. The one with the large logo is newer and made in the UK, as opposed to the older one made in China. The port opening is larger than the older one, the speaker is mounted closer to the top of the baffle, the inputs are combo 1/4"-Speakon jacks, the grille cloth is slightly different in color and the piping is whiter. Different grade of tolex, as well. The newer one seems more prone to nicks. The rest of the dimensions are the same. I would imagine that you would be more likely to find the newer one in stock. I do not notice enough of a difference in tone for it to matter between the two.

Not a good thing, as even the older ones use one of the most fragile tolex I ever saw.

hey, what's up?
I have been playing with this cab for the last 8 months, but there was something I didn't like... there was too much vibration that moved my ashdown abm head I had on top. Furthermore, when I connected my ipod through the line in of my bass head to listen some music, the sound was like sh!t. The mid frequencies were not clear, and definetely there was some waves cancelations.
So I decide to go further and improve this cab by bracing it and lining the inside walls (see attached pictures).
The improvement was amazing. There is less vibration and the mid frequencies are much more clear which is very evident when I play music through the cab. I like this cab much more now :smug:

I purcased them from to different stores. One from my local store here in Norway. The new one from Germany. I ordered two, But they could only get me one here in Norway. So I had to buy the second one from Thomann (Germany)

Are they made different?

I have two VS-115s. An older one with the small offset logo and the newer one with the larger, centered logo. The older one is made in China and the newer one in UK. Check your back panel for where each was made. On the VS-115, the newer one has a larger shelf port and the speaker is not centered on the baffle.
