Ashen Amps APG 700.4

I did a little searching and could not find any thread(s) talking about this cool new Ashen Amps bass head, the APG 700.4. I have one in for review in Bass Gear Magazine, and I just took it to its first gig, where it performed quite well. Definitely has plenty of volume on tap, and while the tone stack is a bit on the mysterious side (and Ashen does not have a manual, or documentation on the frequency centers just yet), I was able to find some great tones fairly easily (esp. once I realized that the Blend knob is a midrange control).

With the killer green birdseye enclosure, I decided to pair it up with a Trace Elliot 2x12 (also in for review, and also excellent!), though at practice, I also spent some time playing it through the Bergantino NXT-212SE, which was also a great matchup.

A few things to note. It does not appear to have a mute function (I use a tuner pedal, so it doesn't really matter to me), and the speaker out is a Speakon, only (again, not an issue for me).

This thing really does sound lovely, though. I'm curious if any of you have had experience with this product or the Ashen brand.

One of the admins of a Facebook group has been spamming them recently, haven't heard anything beyond his series of posts about them. Nice box, but looks like it doubles the weight of the head.

You can get the head without the enclosure, but even with it, it's pretty light.

I LOVE it!!!! I got the 700 and its more power than I need! Super easy to dial in and gets great tone and headroom. Reach out to Loren at Ashen artist relations if you are interested and tell him I sent you!

What’s up with Ashen? They have some very interesting amps and cabs at reasonable prices if it’s indeed MIA.

The amps themselves are made in the Ukraine. As far as I know, the amps have not undergone any UL testing for safety or interference compliance.
Their cabinets are made in California.

I just received my APG 700.4 20 minutes ago. Fantastic deal that I couldn't pass up, and so glad I didn't! I'm letting the ringing in my ears pass for a few minutes before I give it a second listen. So far so good. Lots of power and the tone stack seems to cover plenty of sonic ground.

I'm waiting for a 500w Schroeder 12L mini to match. For the moment I'm using an Aguilar NT112 so a bit thick on the bottom with no tweet.

Enjoy! Ashen is def the bass amp of the future! Lightweight, ass kicking tone, easy to dial in any room and crazy volume. Havent had to push my 700 past 9 AM and have used it in all types of situations for the past year

They use top notch parts in these amps The Bass Exchange / The Amp Shop in LA has them. For sure loud and simple no extra bs needed
