It's probably still too early for anyone to have test this mic on bass but I figured Id start a thread anyway.

Aston is really hyping their their new capsule as having the best of a dynamic, ribbon, and condenser mic. If I were to guess, the capsule is just large diaphragm dynamic style mic. Basically just a headphone driver or a really sensitive sub kick. From what I've listened to, the the mic doesn't really live up to the claims but it does sound really ribbony.
I don't think the mic would sound super clear on double bass but I do think it will give a nice fat bottom. I also like how it sounds on solo voices like voice overs and podcasts. I don't think it's the magic they claim, but a $200 mic with that dark ribbony sound and a cardioid polar pattern would make a nice addition to a mic locker. It's gets close to the sound without the complications of a figure 8 pattern.
If any of you order one, im sure all of us here would love some sound samples on double bass.
