atk mtd

I was wondering how the Ibanez ATK 300 compares to the MTD Kingston Artist 4 string. I know the ATK has a light ash body and the MTD is a carved basswood body, what about everything else?

In my experience, the ATK has a thicker neck and tends to be quite a bit heavier than the MTD, which usually runs in the 7-8lb. range. Feel of the two basses is quite a bit different and tone is bit different. ATK tends to be more classic tone (probably closer to a Stingray) while the MTD sounds more modern. Both are nice basses. But, IMO, the Kingston is the nicest bass you can get in it's price range.

thats what i was thinking but didnt quite know about the electronics, I loved the mtd when i played it but saw that the atk had a better body wood (IMO) just was wondering about the rest, thanks

I don't thing you can go wrong either way. I preferred the ATK, and that's what I bought, but the Kingston was also very nice, and if one wanted to upgrade pickups or electronics, the Kingston would be the easier bass to do it on.

umm...my ATK is not light, it is 11 lbs according to my bathroom scale and Link Removed is a description of the controls.

FWIW (IME), basswood is in no way a "cheap", or inferior wood for bass bodies. The EBMM Bongo is a prime example.
