Anybody use the ATM 350 mic for your DB? Good results? The ATM 350 is cheaper than the DPA 4099B mic but does the ATM 350 mic give the same quality?

I pair my ATM350 with an Underwood and really like what it adds. I run it into an Art preamp before my Phil Jones bass cub. I have a Nady 48V phantom power supply to get rid of cheap if you ever need it.
Thanks gypsydjango for starting this Thread! I'm about to buy an ATM350 mic for my Upright Bass. I consider this is the best mic for its price range...
Guys I'm confused, which one should i buy ,the normal one ore that with the long gooseneck??
Alright! Τhank you mooseonbassI picked up a long gooseneck but went back to the original. Don't remember why, it just worked.
Hey Wasnex, thanks for the insight!Yes, i guessed that the longer one would be more floppy...I think it will depend on the mounting point for the mic and have far it is to the point where you aim the mic. I would inspect the bass and experiment to determine where you expect to aim the mic, and then buy accordingly. The longer gooseneck will allow wider range of aiming options. But it will be more floppy.
Might be worth your while to have both goosenecks. The 5" and 9" goosenecks are available separately for the 350A. List price for the 5" goose = $30 and the 9" goose = $40. A $10 difference.
If you want both and plan to buy new, compare the cost of the ATM350U VS the ATM350UL. I believe MAP is $299 VS $309. Also a $10 difference.
It may be possible to insert the older ATM350 capsule into the current goosenecks.

Hey Wasnex...and in the future decides to change gooseneck in order to experiment etc etc , that's possible, is that right?
Thanks for the input, Steve. I just checked the cable and I don't think that's the culprit. What I think is happening is the vibrations are passing through the gooseneck to the foam which is in turn vibrating against the mic cartridge. I took the mic out of the foam and let it dangle while the gooseneck was mounted to the tailpiece (I've been keeping the cable in the rubber clips -- I did try removing it, no change) and while dangling this noise didn't happen. I picked this thing up secondhand so maybe the problem is due to a degradation of the foam through age. Many moons ago I had the ATM350. I mounted it on the afterlengths, also tried clipping it to the adjusters and never had any vibration problems. Have you checked that the cable is not the culprit?
