for those of you who arent familiar.. theres a band masquerading around the metalcore scene called attack attack!. they are fond of V neck shirts and low tuned guitars. the music is a mix of obvious metalcore, pop punk, autotune, death screams and synthy dance breaks.

this single is the perfect example

so.. are they revolutionaries for getting all this stuff in one song, or just some confused nu school hardcore boys grasping at straws?

they're no more fake or genuine than 99.9% of bands in the hardcore scene. yes, the crab walk thing is kind of silly. whatever. that whole scene/sound has been rubbed in the ground, and people are just mad because they're young and pretty successful.

i saw an interview with their frontman. he was actually the most articulate and down-to-earth band dude i've seen in the mainstream for a while. they're not stupid, that's for sure.

They're terrible. They're spoiled suburban kids that got lucky combining some of the worst elements of pop music and directing it to stupider 14 year old kids. I like the name though.

theyve been through 2 different singers at this point. although im not sure it matters. if you're all t-pain and screams, anyone can do it

im a little frustrated with how THIS of all things is getting over. anyone can do that.

but its the same frustration with most pop music. i write intelligent metalcore-esque music and i have this dribble to contend with.

eh, personally i'm burned out on all of that kind of stuff, whether it's badly performed or if its technical and tight.

but i watched the "Stick Stickly" video, and thought to myself that they're just the culmination of all the lousy hardcore that simmered on the surface of the punk/indie underground during this last decade. it's no surprise to me at all that some band would get huge doing a mainstream variation of that genre/sound. it's happened before with many other trendy genres that either built up in the underground, or enjoyed a cult following before erupting to a mass (youth) audience.

theyre like mindless self indulgence..... fun to listen to but the world only needs one. oh well, just like all of their pop/punk dbag counterparts im sure theyll be here today gone tomorrow. the only good thing about pop/punk is that its just like rap... songs are loved and forgotten all in the same week.
