you're not all that far off the mark, ken ;) he definitely tuned it in a way he thought i would like as a fridge lover. still goes way deeper, but in a good way so i ain't complaining!

Very cool! Duke seems to be a very nice cat, and I look forward to getting the cab. It is a unique execution. I dig the 12/6/1 cabs that Don at LDS is making also. It will be fun to post up and compare, as Bill F. posted, these two different paths to the same goal.

Excellent. I knew this would turn into a more condensed version of some other blurbs here and there.....

I knew it would sound good as per Duke's (uh-hmm) "attention to detail", but was also wondering about how much was put into portability and ease of use for the average bass player. The price he lists is ridiculously fair and I can't imagine he's making a TON of money of selling only a few of these, but hopefully people will wake up and realize that there is little need for 100lbs 410 anymore. If I wasn't in need of an upright so bad, I would have ordered one already. Still might try to sell one of my 12/6s to just to try it out. I wonder if the decision to eliminate the mid woofer was partially due to weight and size or just all about "the technology is here, why has nobody else perfected it yet?"

I'm a pretty big fan of good people and go out of my way to support them (part of the reason I started this specific thread) because they can be just too hard find sometimes.

His target market is specifically urban public transit users, and then the rest of us who are getting more and more spoiled by the increasingly good performance of small light rigs these days.

Duke and I have been trading emails ever since he came on Talkbass. As with many other TB'ers, meeting him in person was a real pleasure. I would have been interested in the cab regardless, but...:cool:
