I really like the harmonies and think it makes that tune haha but that's just me. I really do feel that cornell's SG shriek voice, especially on badmotorfinger was just him going, ''right, there once was a guy called Robert Plant, and now there is a guy called Chris Cornell who is even more powerful'' and although undeniable the range and power was there, it sometimes felt a bit 'overkill' for me. Now I feel his voice more soulful and perfect for the new vibe AS got going on this record. Listen to the Revelations chorus, would you really want to hear cornell wailing like he does on temple of the dog? for me it would appear inappropriate for that tune whereas on Wide Awake he gets a pretty high scream out which climaxes the tune in an effective way....

Audioslave: Revelations.....!

Actually, stichbass, those were the exact harmonies I was saying were put there as a replacement for the shriek. To each thier own though, I may just be jaded. I grew up with that shriek, soundgarden was the first band I really got into so I'm biased toward that sound. I'll check out wide awake again though, I haven't listened to the whole album on headphones yet.
yeah man, I can appreciate you having got into soundgarden first, the order of events for me went, Rage, then audioslave then who is that new singer they got, and then soundgarden. I would love to hear cornell's temple of the dog voice again some-time but I also would greatly miss his audioslave voice, oh well
I love Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine, Chris Cornell's solo album was absolutely terrible(seriously possilbly worst ever) and I just can't get into audioslave. I wanted to like them but they just don't do it for me. I heard their new single the other day and it was better then the other stuff I've heard them do but still...I'd rather hear Sound Garden or Rage not Rage Against the Sound Garden. You know?
Audioslave has become one of my favorite bands and I LOVE the new CD. Track 2 kicks! I loved "Out of Exile" too and don't see what was bad about it. Timmy C has a great bass sound and I love what he does in the songs. Obviously, there is some serious chemistry there. His distorted sound is definitely one of the best I have ever heard for bass. I think that Chris Channey of Panic Channel (new band with Dave Navarro) deserves a listen too because his Budda Phatbass pedal sounds pretty good and he pretty much uses it on every tune on that cd.

i heard the whole CD yesterday...I actually really like it. I think the trick is not to imagine that these guys were in ratm/soundgarden and listen to the music for what it is...I don't regret buying the cd 
the cd is definitly in my top 3 favorite audioslave cds

The single is alright, but the album is much better. Maybe not as good as their self-titled album, but that will never be matched.

I think that Revelations and OoE are getting farther and farther away from RATM and closer and closer to Cornell's solo album . . . part of me wants more RATM/first-album Audioslave, but part of me says I already have all that music. If I want to hear that, I've already got a ton of albums by that band. I am really interested to hear where these guys go over the next five, ten, however many years . . .

It's interesting how much opinions differ. I happen to think Chris Cornell's Euphoria Morning is a great CD. IMO he was concentrating a lot more on songwriting and creativity than on the material which came before or after. For the most part Audioslave just sounds monotonous to me with very similar minor pentatonic mode riffing throughout. Then again, I think he was trying to channel the Beatles on some of Euphoria. Rage junkies probably wouldn't appreciate that....
