aussie gear!

Matito what part of Australia are you from? If you're in Sydney and you want to try an Ebony amp, send me a PM.

I bought it after my Labsystems 400B eventually died. I tried everything and had my heart set on a GK 1001B. I tried the Ebony amp as a last minute thing at the suggestion of guys at the store (who I've known for years). I immediately liked it, but didn't take too much notice at first because I expected it to be more expensive than the GK. When I eventually noticed the price tag, I nearly fell over. It was half the price of the GK.

That's when I started testing it out more seriously. It was louder and fatter than the GK, and the tone shaping was more precise, not to mention simpler. I'm not a fan of wishy-washy knobs with vague purposes. Don't bother me with "Contour" knobs or "Enhance" knobs. No one knows what they really do, so I was please to see there wasn't any of that on the Ebony. Just 11 bands of EQ, all optimised for great bass guitar tone.

I gigged it for 3 months, then went and bought a second one as a backup. It's a giant killer.

If you can't find any, contact the manufacturer and ask for your closest dealer. They're made by Audio Assemblers Australia in Melb (03) 9357-8595.

Its not Aussie but its available here at a phenomenal price:

It would be, without a doubt, the next head I purchase in Australia (if I can't afford a Walter Woods!)

Its not a tube head, but if you must get "that" sound stick a Sansamp BDDI in front of it and save yourself that hassle of a tube amp! :D

Hey guys,

I know I know, Everytime an Aussie asks about amps. Me and Pete chime in with Ebony & Pro Audio....... It's coz they're good!!!!

Do yourself a favour & call Pro Audio here in Canberra. They have their own ( Pro Audio ) brand of amps that are virtually exactly the same as the ebony gear. Made by the same people in the same factory ( Audio Assemblers )...

It's a shame you didn't ask earlier as I just sold my Pro Audio rig ( 400w 2x12 combo with 4x10 cab ).... The only reason that I upgraded to my Eden rig is that I had the cash to do it at the time & the wife said "Buy all the gear you think you'll need for the next 10 years now and then no more"... I luv my chicky... I got some cool gear!!!! Good news is that I sold the Pro Audio rig to the local musicians association ( of which I am the treasurer ) as a house rig so I still get to play on it all the time....

The rig I bought cost me about $1700 for the 400w head & 2x12 Eminence Delta combo, I payed about $1100 for the 4x10 extn cab ( handled 600w, also Eminence Deltas ). That rig moved walls, foundations and herds of Elephants baby!!!!

Call them & speak to Laurence ( Tell him Dan Matthews told you to call ) don't know if it'll do any good but mention it anyway... He's a good guy. They do good deals on shipping too!!!!

Cheers,

Dan

WT550+D210XST+D212XLT+ Stingray = HEAVEN!!!!!!

PS. Hope to meet all you guys at the GTG Soon... I'll be bringing my stuff up from Canberra for the day ( Got the Monday off too, Work might even fund the trip if I play my cards right!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!! )

Dan, do you know if Pro Audio carry MarkBass gear?

Not from what I've seen.... I was in there lastweek and they didn't have any..... ( I was shopping for harmonica's but that's a different story!!! )...

They are mostly Mesa,Ampeg,Hartke. Some Ashton,Yamaha, Behringer etc etc....

Actually, they have one of those Ashton 300w toob heads I was asking about months ago... I should go check it out!!!
