Australian Customs - RE: amplifiers

Whats it worth? Under $1000? You pay nothing.

Shipments with a declared value of over $1000 will attract 5% duty and 10% GST (hence the 15% Petebass). Althought the GST applies to the duty AS WELL so its actually 15.5% in TOT

**correction- I think it may be more as the taxable total includes freight (even though the assessment does not. eg: a $900 amp with $150 freight attracts no duty/GST) Check out the ATO site- all details are there.
 
Yea i went through that whole mess of ordering overseas, eventually I gave up and waited for something to turn up locally :P it is a bit of a shame that even if we buy from local stores or import we end up with charges much greater then those of US, the gear over there is so cheap compared to here:(!!

Just a side note, Where does everyone get there stuff imported from? Like who are good people to deal with? :P
