Avalon U5 as a preamp - questions

I'm considering purchasing an avalon U5 DI-preamp based on good things I've heard about them. I currently use a swr grand prix with a mesa 12ax7 running to a crown xti-2000.

My question is, on my swr I run 2 1/4" to xlrs from my preamp to my crown and then a speakon to my cab. The avalon only has 1 xlr out for the line and one for the mic. I'm asuming I run the line out to my power amp but how does only running 1 channel vs. 2 out to my power amp affect me?

I run my U5 basically this way; from my SansAmp VT bass pedal into the U5, then into my SVT 4, then out to the cabs. The U5 turned a pretty decent rig into nirvana! It literally blows me away every time I fire it up.

If you look at the back panel it also has a chain out for each channel so you ought to be able to just run a short patch XLR from one to the other if for some freakish reason you can't work out the parallel mono mode.

if the poweramp cannot have its inputs bridged, a y cord will do ya just fine. i used one with my alembic all the time and although i'm sure there was some signal loss, i really couldn't tell the difference. IIRC, mine is a planet waves and was bought at sam ash. the only downside to mine is it is 1 male to 2 female so i use two small male to male patch cables with it.
