Use the balanced XLR mic out on the back unless you're running 1/4" TRS for line-level into the board.
most prefer the xlr line not the mic....but i thought the mic xlr is more powerful...
The MIC out should be at a significantly lower output level than the LINE out. Interesting that you found the opposite to be true in your case. Was the BOOST set to the same level in both scenarios, with the same bass with it's controls set identically?
The line out is XLR.
Or, do you mean the Thru out (1/4") on the front panel for power amp connection?

I used to own one. As I ended up using mostly for a headphone amp after a while I sold it. It did get some good use for gigging and one CD with my old band.

I used to use one hooked up from the parallel socket on my cab into the U5 speaker level input on the back. I thought it was a bit sterile going straight in the front panel. I prefer it driven with a slightly filthy Hiwatt Dr201 clone.

..anyone who uses a wireles system in combination with th e U 5???
....I use a line 6 G50 ...some say it would be better to use a cable....but i don`t hear any difference??

I use a G90, although I have a buffered splitter in front of the U5. Either way, I'm not a subscriber to the cable tone mojo camp. I think the difference most people can detect is the delta in input volume between cable and wireless. However, the wireless is adjustable. If you really like the cable tone then the first order of business is to adjust the level of the wireless to match as closely as possible. I don't use the cable emulation feature of the G90 as IMO it's simply a tone suck. Also keep an eye on battery levels and switch them out at the first sign of power loss. I use Apple rechargeable AA batteries with the G90 and always swap when the bar drops from five lines to four.
