I still have the Trace's pre-shape and Graphic Equalizer buttons switched on. Most of the time it sounds pretty good.
The trace pre shape is a mid cut, so is the BDDI. Sounds like you're cutting all of your mids by accident.
Try turning off the preshape and/or boosting your EQ in the 200hz and 1-2k range.

Yep, sounds like you're cutting all your mids. You just need to back off from one or more of these mid scoops, or add back targeted migrange bumps to help you sit correctly in the mix. I'd back off on the bass and presence on the BDDI, and turn off the graphic as a starting point.
It is not a one-trick pony only capable of distorted or overdriven sounds, as I've found is often the misunderstanding of the product (here and elsewhere).
