Avalon U5/SansAmp Bass Driver

I still have the Trace's pre-shape and Graphic Equalizer buttons switched on. Most of the time it sounds pretty good.

The trace pre shape is a mid cut, so is the BDDI. Sounds like you're cutting all of your mids by accident.

Try turning off the preshape and/or boosting your EQ in the 200hz and 1-2k range.

Hope that makes sense. Any thoughts?

Yep, sounds like you're cutting all your mids. You just need to back off from one or more of these mid scoops, or add back targeted migrange bumps to help you sit correctly in the mix. I'd back off on the bass and presence on the BDDI, and turn off the graphic as a starting point.

Are you looking for distortion? If not then I would consider replacing the Sansamp with the U5. Definately an upgrade IMO.

Not to imply you were implying this MuzikMan... (my apologies in advance)

but just for the record, it is my opinion and experience that the SansAmp BDDI (and RBI) is just as capable of reproducing a wonderful, tone-shaped clean sound as it is at producing a distorted/overdriven style sound. :bassist: It is not a one-trick pony only capable of distorted or overdriven sounds, as I've found is often the misunderstanding of the product (here and elsewhere).
