Avantguard pickguard kudos

I managed to land an Avantguard pickguard from a great TBer and I have to say that I can see what the fuss is about now. It is a huge difference from the awful tort out of Fender’s Custom Shop and has given the whole bass a lift. And it fit with no problems at all.

I’ll be keeping an eye for an Avantguard for my Jazz.

Not sure what the fascination is with tort, but I’m a MOTS fan so I can’t really say much beyond whatever blows your dress up.

I am with you. Most of my basses have mint green guards as I hate the Fender tort so much, but this pickguard is heaps better. No salami print here.

It was a bit of money, yeah. Sold other pickguards to pay for it.

Just checked their website.....my current pickguard was cheaper and it came with a free bass attached.

I have one like that I put on my tobacco sunburst Player Plus V. I forget where I ordered it from but as I recall they had a really large selection of tort plates.

Just got my Avantguard in the mail after a long wait. I got to say, I enjoyed my Spitfire but this is on a whole other level. They are super pricey, no doubt about that...But if you are looking for a good vintage tort reproduction, this is as good as I have seen.

I think so too! I've ordered one for my Pbass 2 weeks ago. I think it will be worth the wait of 4 months. I already have a Spitfire for my worn Pbass and a Lavaguard for my worn Jazzbass. Those are nice but I think the Avantguard will be better looking.
