Hey guys just looking for a little input on some cabinets. So I'm currently playing a Hartke HA3500 through a Peavy TXF 410. Not too many reference points for that particular amp as the Peavy is the only cab I've heard it through. I like my sound well enough. So the dilemma is; I ran into a Avatar b410 at the local pawn shop in great condition. I've read many posts on here about what great cabs the avatars are and how ecstatic people seem to be at their value. The cabs are basically the exact same 350 watt 4 ohm. Talked to the guy who runs the music stuff and he said I'm more than welcome to bring my amp down and see how it sounds paired with the cab. Thinking about loading up the car and trading in the Peavy and dropping a little cash toward the avatar if I like what I hear. Cab is listed at 300$ and it's in really good shape. Think I could get it for around 250$ I'm essentially looking for people to tell me I would be stupid to not pick up that cab at that price just to validate my GAS. I know I've come to the right place.

Those came in 4 ohm and 8 ohm versions. Check which one it is. Preferably with an ohmmeter.
Check the drivers for creasing, tears, and so on.
Check (at least visually, though that's not a definitive test) to make sure all 4 drivers are identical.
Listen at a reasonable volume for one or more drivers sounding "wrong" compared to the others.
The cab is probably lighter than what you have, if the drivers are neos.
The cab you have now is a known quantity. The Avatar is not. So there's that. IMO that's a point in favor of the Peavey.

I can only tell you my Avatar bass cabinets experience.
Bought two of their B210 Neo cabinets in 2008 because I wanted to try a vertical 410 set-up as inexpensively as I could. They're loaded from the factory with Eminence U.S.A. 2510 Neo drivers.
At that time my main gigging cab was a Ampeg SVT 810. I also had a Ampeg 410HLF cab and a Eden 210XLT and 212XLT cabinets.
After using the Avatars at several jobs I decided I preferred the way the Avatar cabs were tuned/sound.
Gave the Ampeg cabs away and sold the Edens.
Those B210 cabs have been my main gigging cabs since, they've proven themselves more than capable in several working, semi-touring bands.
The Avatar cabs were designed by Eminence engineers for Eminence drivers. The horns are from Foster/Fostex, (same as what's used in Ampeg, Eden, Peavey, ect., ect.)
They use a front, slot-shelf ported, 3/4" voidless Baltic Birch plywood
constructed cabinet.
Their build quality is every bit as good as Ampeg and Eden.
You'll have to hear the cab to see if the Avatar cab tuning is right for your ears.
