AVATAR cabinet: SINGLE 4 ohm cab solution?

If I were in the OP's position, and for some reason I had to choose between an Avatar 4x10 and an Avatar TB153, I would buy an 8-ohm TB153 - in a heartbeat. Then I would save to add an additional 8-ohm TB153 - with reversed baffle - to create an optional big rig, for more volume, for playing bigger rooms, etc.

That's one righteous rig right there...

Damn that looks sweet...how loud would the tb153 get on its own with 500w going into it? This thread has convinced me to go 8ohm, but I can only afford one cab right now, and its gotta at least be able to blow up a packed bar with no PA support. Because I'd bet the 410 could?

That TB153? I'd throw in with what MysticMichael said. 8ohm X2 with that one. As for a 4ohm standalone, I'd do a 2X12.

Why is this? I'm curious, as I would have chosen the 4 Ohm as a one cab solution paired with a 500 watt @ 4 Ohm head. Can you elaborate?

There are other changes to the driver to get the impedance to 4 ohms. Greenboy has looked at both drivers and has said that the 4 ohm driver gives up enough that the 8 ohm driver goes deeper and is almost as loud with the same amp.

I used a 3 pro at first. One cab could get loud enough. 2 cabs was awesome. Now I run the 7 pro. One cab is awesomer and two is ridiculous.

8 Ohm all the way IMO. That way you could run 4 Cabinets if you wanted to (with the right head of course.)

So the question is, will a tb153 be loud enough to carry medium shows without PA support? Or do I gotta go 4x10?

And the bass has to be dubby and full! (With a streamliner 900)

I believe it will be enough. It gives you whatever tone you put into it. I'm not familiar with the 410, but I'm sure it's cool too. I hardly ever have needed the full stack, its more for fun when I feel like hauling out the other cab.

The point is, you would get just as loud with an 8 Ohm cab. The mechanical limitations are such that once you hit the 500 or so wattage point you are not really going to gain more volume out of the 410. So what is the point of limiting yourself to one cab? If you dont ever need the second cab, fine, dont use it. The option will be there should you ever want it though.

I would too. They put a lot of though into that cab and it's a steal for the price.

Now you guys are making me wonder whether I should sell my 4-ohm cab and buy an 8-ohm cab... Is the 8-ohm Eminence driver really noticeably better? Or is the improvement due to amp differences under the different loads?

Or would I likely not notice a difference in sound at all, and the only consideration is the lack of 2-ohm stable heads for twin 4-ohm cabs?
