Avatar Owners Club Pt. 2

Hey Avatar members,

Does anyone here match a 112 with a 210? I have a 210, and think a 212 would be too much power. I dont gig large enough venues for it.

Could a 112 get me the power I need?

I suppose it would depend on the type of music and how loud you play. I use a single SB112 neo and it's enough for most of my gigs, I want to add a second 112 sometime this year if the economic mess we're in ever straightens out. The only thing to watch out for is that the SB112 is only rated for 250W and your head puts out 350W @ 8Ω. Not a problem if you're always going to use it with the 210, could be a problem if you're going to use it solo.

Not that Seattle is perfectly safe; no big city is. But Memphis at the top of the charts for crime, just below Detroit. Violent crime, in particular.

Music scene is actually good, but it's too hot during the summers to even want to play LOL I LOVE visiting Sun Studios..great mojo! Good bbq, too. Fall, spring and winter here are actually very nice.

Summers are brutal, especially for my Northwest blood which runs really warm to begin with.

It's green and hilly here, but I miss the water, forests, mountains, and the grey skies and light rain and cool of Seattle. :bawl:

What do you guys think of this:

I'm running a Spector 4 string P/J, compressor pedal, into a GK 800RB into a
1x15 Ampeg with tweeters. I like the Ampeg enough, except for the weight being around 70's lbs.

So, I was going to trade the Ampeg for one Avatar Neo 112. (I have a chance to get 2 112 neo's, but may not because of $$).

I keep the amp and Spector fairly flat, so was looking for a similiar type "organic" sound.

Anyway, what do you think?

I maybe used the wrong term. By organic I mean the sound of my bass direct into a pa or a recording console. I like the sound of my bass and don't use an amp much to color the sound (if that makes any sense.) :)

I mostly go direct, so an amp in many instances is just my monitor and stage sound for the band. But, say I do a small gig, I wanted something that sounds good also.

I think you would be fine when it comes to that. With a Mesa or GK you may get a more modern sound.

Eden may also be another option for the tone youre describing.

IMO, IME, YYMV, etc...

I play an SB 112 neo through a backline 600. Great combo, plenty of lows. The cab doesn't like a lot of lows from the amp, flat is fine, I'll kick up the low mids if I want more lows. As You normally go direct one should be fine. I gig regularly with just the 1 cab and it's ok. If your band is loud even at smaller venues you may want to pick up that second 112. There are times that I do need a second cab. Hopefully, sometime this year I'll pick up a second 112 so I can leave my heavy Peavey 115 at home. And yes you can stack the Avatar 210 neo together.

Looking at all the love Avatar gets, I'm jonesing to get some avatar cabs to run with my Ampeg b2r. I prefer a punchier, funk sound. Here are some questions:

1) In the classifieds I've seen Avatar 115 cabs but according to the Avatar site, they don't make a 115. When did they stop making the 115 and, since they don't make them anymore, was their an issue with them? Are they worth considering?

2) I've been leaning towards picking up a 410 (8 ohm - to leave the option of adding maybe a 212 later). What are your thoughts on an Avatar 410 vs. Avatar 210 + 112 vs. Avatar 210 + 115?

Not that I know for sure, but I believe Avatar quit making them due to other companies selling more, and just not enough orders.

I own a 210 and love it. I plan on buying a 112 or 212 this summer to go along with it.

IF you have a serious question about a 410, PM Tb member Eaglemoon. She has one and loves it.
