I've heard the same thing, but never experienced it. If I didn't want any high end from my cabs, I'd get cabs without tweeters. ;)

I've got a Shuttle 6.0 powering Avatar B210/B212 neos, I leave the EQ on the amp almost flat (bump up the bass just a touch) and set the tweeter control on the cabs to about 45% (11:15ish :)). Still plenty zingy, but not too much.

My pair is textured, but probably in the pattern. It's nice. Dunno about tweed though.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I wasn't sure if what I was doing was okay, it's my first cab/head setup, but I really have no need to turn the tweeter all the way off anyway.

I almost got tweed and oxblood as well, but I assumed it was your standard tweed that gets really dirty really quick. Lacquering it is the only way to prevent it, and I didn't want to hassle with that....perfectly happy with my dark green and tan grill though!

What it does is over heat the L-Pad control and burn it out and not the crossover. Avatar uses 15Watt L-Pads and the wattage to the tweeter horn can reach 25w-50 watts so if you turn the L-Pad all the way down it is trying to absorb that full wattage and is insufficient to do so. You can replace it with a 100 watt unit and stop this problem. I have don't it for many people with avatar cabs when I was in the business a few years ago. You might get by with a 50 watt L-Pad just fine but you only save $1.00 so why not just get the 100 watt model and not worry about it.

I was rehearsing with my band today, we play pretty loud and my 2-112 setup was kind of struggling. I was pushing it harder than I remember, but figured it's just the two guitarists I play with now who both use half-stacks instead of the combo guitarists I'm used to. Then I realized at the end of the rehearsal, only 1 speaker was plugged in. Plugged in the other one and it was plenty. I'm pretty surprised how loud the 1x12 speaker got, it was enough but just barely.

Dave doesn't make the compact 1X15 like this any more.

Shuttle 6.0 with B210 and B212 neos. I'm not sure I've ever had the volume above 4. Great sound... tight, warm and punchy! :bassist:

Humorous sidenote: I get a lot of funny looks from guitarists when I pick up my "loud-a$$ amp" with one hand and put it in a laptop bag. lol

It's almost new gear day.
I just had THE email from Dave and my SB112 is ready to pick up.
I went with the Tweed and Oxblood after all.
Dave did confirm that the Tweed is actual Tolex and needs no refinishing.
So, I hope to get it picked up and on the plane Monday.
I canna wait to see what she sounds like and how it looks :hyper:

I'll finally get a chance to get my B200h to sweat some. :D
