The fedex man Is my new best friend. He brought me this sweet cab today and I love it. It kills every 410 or 115 cabinet I've ever owned

I can tell. It is a 2 x 12 Neo, right? That would have been my pick of cabs had they of had the Neo at that time that I got my 115 Avatar.
I made a change to mine and put a Kappa Pro LF-2 in and it kicks some serious butt with a 6 1/2" "18 Sound" 6N410 mid speaker and two Eminence Pro Horns rated at 85 watts each.

Thanks a lot to those who advised me to switch for a Shuttle 6.0. I am loving it. Sounds absolutely awesome together with an Avatar cab.

I will probably say good bye to the Tour 700. Great for metal, but lacks a bit of bottom end for my taste.

I have an Ampeg B2R with an Avatar B210. I'm playing my first gig and its an outside backyard party. When I practice, I have set the horn knob at about 11:00. I know I'll want to adjust the horn given the surroundings. What should I listen for and how do I go about getting the horn set to fit the surroundings?

It's official, I can apply to be a card carrying memberof the club now.
My Neo SB112 arrived yesterday.

Played for awhile last night, thats why no pics. To busy groovin' to be snappin' ;)
But I will get some tonight.

Tweed with Oxblood and Gold cloth grill. Looks terrific. My wife really thought it would look TRBL before she saw it, but after clapping eyes on it, she had to agree it is sensatinal.
Fit and Finish are immaculate.
Packing for shipping was first rate. Very professional job there.

However, the meat is in the playing/pudding.
I got a lot of "Vibration" sound last night, but I'm not blaiming the cab just yet. Lots of mitigating factors, including:

1) I'm really not a very good player yet, so lets not discount user error

2) the Vibration sound seem to come when I was digging in a bit more than usual. So I suspect I had the volume too high on the cab, gain and volume on the head were all at moderate levels. But I let it creep up there from time to time. hahaha!
Any recommendations for cab volume level as a baseline?
I turned it up to about 3:30 to 4:00, but it was set at 12:00 out of the box

3) I am not convinced I had the EQ on the Head (Acoutstic B200H) set up to my taste's just yet. I was mostly indulging in wankery last night, rather than properly setting EQ and testing.

4) The more I read, the more I think I need my bass set up professionally.

5) last but not least, This is my first experience with a real Head and Cab. My only previous combo is just a teeny Behringer BX-108 so this is quite a change and I need some time to dial it all in.

But move air! Woof. I had heard people discussing it, but had not ever had my pants legs move because of it before.
When I was not getting Vibration noise, the sound was very well articulated.

Congratulations on the cab!

First thought: Vibration noise... Are you using Speakon or 1/4" jack connections? When I got my first Avatar (B210 neo), I thought I had a bad driver. I use Speakons, turns out it was actually the sound of air moving through the unused 1/4" jacks. Then I remembered a tip that was passed on to me that I continue to pass along, plug those 1/4" jacks if you're not using them. A couple of squishy foam earplugs later (stuffed in the empty jacks) and boom... my "bad driver" problem was fixed. Maybe this is the "vibration" problem you're having?

Second thought: when you say "volume too high on the cab," are you talking about the knob on the back of the cab? Because that's actually just the tweeter crossover control... not overall cab volume.

Last thought: remember that it's a new cab with new drivers... they'll need time to break in at a reasonable playing level (read: NOT full volume lol). Both my cabs got warmer, deeper and a little louder over about 15-20 hours of playing time.

Just some thoughts. ;)

One thing to consider given you were just "wanking" and not playing much with the EQ. I've found that the cab doesn't like too much low bass. I usually turn the bass down a bit and up the low mids on the amp EQ. Also make sure your pre gain isn't too high, especially if you use an active bass. Remember that it's only a 112 and won't get as loud as say a 410, but it will get pretty loud IMHO.

Whoops on x-over control. :eek: I think I'll start by dialing it back to 12

Using one of the 1/4". The head does not have Speakon. But I can stuff one jack as easily as two. I'll give it a go.

Good tip for not liking the low Freq turned up. I'll roll them back a goodly bit. I was using the suggested settings in the "manual" that came with the head for starting points and they had those Freq at 1/2-3/4 topped out.

Understood on the breaking in. The volume was pretty moderate. Most of the time. But I had to flex it once or twice, you know ;)

Thanks for the tips. Now that the initial "unboxing rush" is over, I can settle down and go about dialing it in properly, instead of random knob twisting and wailing away :cool:

Is this just something with the SB112? Is yours a neo or ceramic? My B212 Neo seems to want all the low end it can get... Curious.

I've always been boggled by manufacturers that suggest settings like that. To each their own, but in my opinion, if you have to adjust the EQ that much to get the sound you want, you need different gear. :hmm: That's just me though. ;)

Thanks for the suggestion. Also something I was gogin to look into, but it came down to clean my office or play bass.
BUt I do need to tend to that as well :cool:

Mine is a neo. I don't know how much of it is the heads, I've run it through both a GK backline 600 and as an extension cab with my GK MB210. I've found that both have a lot of lows, especially the MB 210. Also the B212 is a more mid frequency tuned cab, much more so then the SB 112, so that may have a good bit to do with it wanting lots of low.
