Is anyone still issuing club numbers here? If so, I WANT IN!

UPS says I'm getting my B210 NEO TODAY with X-Liner and metal grill!!! I'm taking the day off and am keeping my eyes peeled for UPS. :D

It's my first Avatar cab, and am really happy about getting one.
I'm gunna run my Aguilar AG500sc through it. ....along with my new 9-string bass. :bassist:

I haven't read through all the posts here yet, but has anyone here ran an Aguilar 500sc through a B210???

I've had my Avatar b212 since about mar2010. I am running a markbass lmII thru a neo b212 (old back needed something lighter than my old peavey 1516 cab). Love the sound and took me a while to figure out that I needed to turn the horn completely off to get rid of this annoying buzz...not sure if the horn is blown or what but I guess I really don't need it.

I couldn't beat the price....329 for the head (new) and 517 for the cab (went with line-x coating...I would suggest that for anyone who plays out alot....takes abuse)

Funny first time story with the setup....for about the first 5 minutes...I was blowing sawdust out of the bottom port on every note...funny as hell

Oh I forgot....I'm playing a fender jazz (4 string) and a peavey 5 Grind

Bump for all the Avatar guys here on Talkbass.

It's my birthday on the 12th, and my parents asked what kind of gift I want for my birthday. They offered to buy me a new laptop to use for your average internet surfing, gaming and school needs, but I don't really need a new computer.

So I'm looking at getting another cab. I know that I really don't need another cab either (currently using a 212 with Peavey Tour 700, pushing 500 watts at 8 ohms) and it's truly enough, but you never know where I will be playing in the next year or two, and I'd like to be prepared. I also love the way big cab stacks look!

So what is everyones opinion on the situation I'm in? Should I get a 210 to pair with my 212, or another 212 to stack into a 4X12? I really don't even need an additional 2X12, but the price difference between the 210/212 cabs is so small, so price doesn't really matter. I really don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

That is a tough decision to make. Although I would probably go with another B212, adding a B210 would probably be more practical. If you ever want to take your amp anywhere but don't feel like hauling the larger B212 box, you can fall back on the B210. I've got an SB112 and it's quite a bit easier to haul than the B212. It's still not the smallest or lightest cab, but it makes up for that in tone. It's nice having a smaller cab available for those times that I want to take my amp to my brother's place to practice.

There are a lot of people that pair their B212 with a B210 and almost all of them report great results. I am also confident that you would also be very pleased with another B212 on top of your current cab. :cool:

The great thing about your situation is that you can't lose! Either cab configuration will sound great. It's just up to you to weigh the pros and cons of each cab and decide what you'd like. Good luck!

I use a B210/B212 cab config, posted some thoughts about it here, and that post has links to a couple more of my posts about it. Great rig!

Lately I’ve been thinking about getting another cab to leave at the drummer’s house for practice. I’ve been debating about getting another B212 or a B410 (either of which I could then stack with my current B212, or use the 4x10 with my B210).

A question to the B410 owners here... How much power to you feed your Avatar 4x10’s? I’d get an 8ohm so I could stack with another cab, but I’m worried that my Shuttle wouldn’t give it quite enough power (375 watts @ 8 ohms, or 300ish if I stack it). Thoughts?

B410 owner here. I have the 4ohm version and I am feeding it 500W. Eventually I am thinking about looking for a 9.0 to feed it much more. But I can't justify or afford it. And living in Canada doesn't allow me to find the GB stuff easily.

I've thought about the 9.0 as well, but I think I want another cab first so that I don't have to lug as much gear to the drummer's place. lol

If you were to add another 8 ohm cabinet, you'd be running at 4 ohms and pulling the maximum 500 watts out of your Shuttle. I imagine a Shuttle pushing two 410 cabinets would be plenty loud, though the 6.0 does have a slightly attenuated low end, which may keep you from pulling everything out of those two Avatars.

Get a 2nd 2x12. It is better to have matching cabs. Plus I think it just looks better. Take one or two to the gig depending on how you feel. I've been taking both even to smaller gigs. They are not that heavy and it gets the sound up closer to your ears. I'll tell ya four 12's and those big cabs can make for thunderous lows! I'm playing through a GK1001rbii and it sounds good.

What I like about having a 212 210 combo is that, with the addition of the 210, my tone has a nice little midrange honk now that was missing before. It gave me a more full spectrum tone I guess you could say. Could 212's give you that? My opinion is it'd be more of the tone you currently get with a single 212, just more of it. That's complete conjecture on my part though. I can say however that if you're looking for a full range good tone, the 210 212 delivers.

The Shuttle 6.0 actually runs 600 watts at 4ohms, so each 8ohm cab would be getting about 300 watts. While that has been working out good for my current stack (B210/B212, 500 watts @ 8ohm each), what I'm specifically worried about is that it wouldn't be enough headroom with the 4x10 and might create a a mismatch if I stack cabs with such different power ratings. You know, like the 2x12 might get pushed more since it has the lower power rating and the 4x10 might not get enough juice (and seem quieter).

But... I've never tried a stack like that before, which is why I'm asking on Talkbass! :)

Possible. FWIW, I've got a 9.0 - happy to get together sometime if you'd like to A/B it on your stack to get a sense of what it does.

I don't know if this will help. A while ago I did the math to find out the surface area of various speaker combos. Math is not my best subject so hopefully my calculations are correct. Of course this only addresses the more speaker area is louder question, but it might be helpful for someone wanting to pair 2 cabs with different speakers but similar speaker area.
