I asked a few people here what head they used and the 6.0 came often and I don't regret switching.
The tube pre-amp is really a good feature, the tone shape switches as well and the 4 knob EQ is good enough.
The Tour 700 is a big heavy beast and has a lot of options to sound big and fat, I guess for a metal pick player it would be a great option, but Genz Benz makes better amps than the solid state Peavey Tours.
They also sound a lot better through the Avatar cabs, IMHO.
That's exactly why I bought the Tour 700, honestly. I play in a hardcore band, mixed with a big metal influence, tuned down to drop C, and think the head sounds great. I originally walked into Mothers Music (kinda like Winnipeg's Guitar Center), and tried the 2X15 matching cab with the head. Switched to the 8X10, and down to the 410, all tour series cabs, and was really set on getting the Tour 700 with the matching 215, and offered $1200 for the rig, and they turned it down. I left kinda disappointed, as I only took the head home, and had no cab to play the head through, but boy, am I ever happy with my Avatar cab.
It was really worth the wait, saved me some cash, and to my ears, sounds better then the Tour cabs anyway. Shipping was really quick and not to pricey considering I'm in Canada.
I'm really going to have to give those shuttles a try. I'm completely broke being only 16, but once I get some cash I'd like to try out some higher end gear, and hear nothing but great things about the GB heads and cabs.
Can anyone post pics of their Avatar double cab setups? Mostly 2X12+2X12 or 2X12+2X10? I'm looking to get another cab once I get some more cash saved up, and am not sure if I really need another 212, but would like to see how that 210 looks sitting on top of the 212 just for reference.
Thanks!!
