Thanks for the info! I'm leaning towards adding a 2x12 for the 5-string factor, but knowing my G.A.S., I'll probably end up buying both.

So, are you gonna tell me if that's a mid driver in that red 2x12? This intrigues me! lol

The straps on the moving dolly look corny, I know, but the dolly was about half the price of buying the casters separate. I'll mount them eventually.

btw, I was going to get a combo for rehearsals and such, but decided I'd rather get another Avatar. A B112 or a B210. My head pumps 320 watts at 8 ohms, so if I got a 8 ohm B112, which is rated at 250 watts, would that be a problem assuming I didn't push it ? Or should I just get a 4 ohm B210 and not worry about it ?

I just figure a smaller cab will be nearly as portable as a combo, plus I'd have a second cab ready for an eventual backup head purchase. And of course I'd be set to run stereo as well if I decide to.

I actually bought the cab with it allready mounted in the cab the wiring was a mess they actually had the polarity wrong at the speakon connector and the midrange phased wrong you should have heard it when I paired it with another cab I instantly knew what was wrong and why it didnt sound very good but they did a good job on the speaker selection and crossover,the midrange Speaker is a 18sound and I really like the tone out of it much more than a tweeter.
I have never understood a tweeter for bass but when I pair the cab with 2x10 and just crack the tweeter on the 2x10 on a little I have all of the highs and upper mids that I need.
I just sold a Avatar 2x12 that had the tweeter so I was able to do a pretty good side by side comparrison and you can see which one I kept.
You can get the midrange on USSSpeaker.com and I could get the cap specs but the coil that hey used isnt labeled.

i use the 112 with my 700rb. it's fine, just pay attention to make sure you dont distort it. i wouldnt push it for big gigs though (have 2 cabs for that), i just do this for band practice and small gigs.

Hey guys I'm pretty interested in these cabs, but I have a couple of question. First, are these cabs USA made. Second do they take speakon cables. Third, which would you think would sound better: Two 2x12's or a 4x10 and a 2x12LF for adding low frequencies to the mix with the 4x10. I will probably be using a GK 1001RB-II and a EBMM Sterling. I'm looking for a punchy articulate finger and slap tone, not twangy or lacking in low-end tone. However I may wish to dial in a nice gentel bassy sound for jazz or whatever. Oh, and one more thing, do they still make a 1x15?

I have a Aguilar GS-212 and a Peavey 2-15 cab and when I run the 2 cabs together it is the worst possible sound that
i have ever heard come out of 2 speaker cabs that sound so good apart.
I think that the 2x10 and 1x15 would compliment each other better than the 2x12.
On the other hand I feel that the 2x12 is a better stand alone cab.

A friend of mine here in town told me the same thing back last summer when I was thinking of getting back to playing bass again. He said if I wanted to gig with one cab, a 212 was the way to go. When I called him and told him what head and cab I bought, he said I should have got the GK neo 212. But after he heard the Avatar, which he had not heard of, he liked it.

Did you hit the two cabs with one amp ? You've got me wondering, if I go with the Avatar B210 instead of the B112, and run stereo with two heads, would I notice the same issue using an Avatar B212 with a B210 ?

Hmm... Interesting, very interesting! lol Thanks for the info! I'll have to check that out. I'm trying to warm up my sound and have gradually been dialing down the tweeter on my last two cabs, ended up completely turning it off on one. Do you know if that mid driver is simply wired in place of the tweeter using the stock crossover? What's the ohm rating? Thanks again for the info.

1) Yep, made by Dave and his crew in Idaho (great customer service, IMO)
2) They have one Speakon, two 1/4" jacks
3) I'd say go for the 4x10/2x12 combination, best of both worlds
4) their website doesn't have a 1x15 listed

Hi Dillon, I'm just getting back into playing after a long term switch to acoustic guitar, so I'm not the one to offer an informed answer, but the Avatars do have speakons and are US built. Check out the site. I think there is a link to a Bass Player mag review down on the bottom left corner of the main page.

The Avatar B210 and B212 are very compatible they compliment each other very well as they are voiced differently.
My take on a 15 verses 12's is that the 12's cut through the mix much better and still seem to give you enough of the fundamental note to sound really good especially paired with the 2x10 that goes a little lower.
A 15 cab on the other hand is what I classify more as a reinforcment cab to assist your main cab thus letting your 2x12 or 2x10 cut through the mix and be heard and the 15 for lower support now if I were talking about a BagEnd 15 that is a very mid voiced Cab (so Ive heard) then thats a different story.
I have the Avatar 2x12 and 2x10 and another Avatar 2x10 and Aguilar GS-212 and a Genz Benz 15 and a Genz Benz 18.
I definentaly dont need all of those speakers but for Large outdoor events I would like to run a 2x12/2x10 on each side and then use the 15 for a little low end reinforcment or the 18 if neccessary and I just hate to get rid of good gear.
I havent had any venue large enough to use all of this gear but I hope to this summer as my latest and hopefully last band for awhile we plan on doing some Fairground type venues and in that situation we dont have enough PA or House system to handle the bass in my opinion.
I will have much to learn about putting together and partialy running a full on PA sytem with mics on Drums and Guitars and DI for the Keys and bass.
I have been working with my Son getting him started in his DJ buisness and that has been a learning expierence for acoustics and speaker placement also.
But do think that I have a pretty good ear for sound and I have bought and sold a stupid amount of gear in the last 4 years in my search for what I consider to Great afordable and portable sound and I think that I am there or really close.
As far as running Stereo or Bi amped I have not messed with that but there are alot of more knowledgeable people on here that have.

BX600. I had an Ampeg B4R but didnt feel like lugging around the 55lbs rack anymore so I started looking for something smaller with enough power. My friend had one of these so I played through it for about an hour and really liked the tone/power/price/weight so I decided to pick one up. Should be here monday, Carvin took like 6 days before shipping it

Thanks for taking time to answer Steve. I think I'll go with a 210 then. Same size as the 112, and I can get the 4 ohm and have the head room along w/the portability.
