Avatar sounds like........

I've done some searches and come up empty handed. I'm wondering what brand Avatar can be closely compared to sound wise. Does it sound more like GK, Mesa Boogie, Ampeg, what? Lots of bottom end, lean in the mids, modern or vintage tone? Hifi, more on the low end side? Just some descriptions like those.

ive heard that wen you turn the tweeter off it sounds round like an ampeg and when you have the tweeter on it has a hifi tone similer to a mesa but slightly more vintage feel.

but i dont have one so this is just assumptions i have made from reading others. you should search AVATAR in the search function
 
Maybe Ampegish but cleaner and clearer. They have good bottom end and are nice sounding can do very brite to Semi vintage sound Without actually getting either one completely. They are their own sound and that sound is good and for the price they are very good and quality wise they are also very good . Like was mentioned already if you buy one and don't like it someone will buy it.
 
The 410 Neo I recently measured was +/- 3dB from 58 Hz to 6800 Hz, excepting a -16dB whole centered at 2800 Hz. This is an engineering failure, where the tweeter does not kick in low enough to cover the woofer rolloff.

2793 Hz is F(7) which is the 4th harmonic of the G string played up at the 22nd fret.

The 410 Neo was -12dB at 40 Hz, so I would not characterize it having a huge bottom. The plot was much smoother than the Eden D410-XLT, so the 410 Neo will not have the Eden bark. In all, the 410 Neo is a smooth responding cab with rich mid-bass response down to the 2nd harmonic of a 5-string bass.
 
Avatar cabs are a breed unto their own. Good cost, great tone reproduction, lightweight and excellent customer service. Buy one and try it out, if you don't like it someone will snap it up..

Im thinking this is gonna be good for me as well....
Just as soon as i get the dough together for my GBE 750, i'm gonna pair it up with some Avatar cabs....and your right, if it's not for me, someone will snatch 'em up!

to the OP, from all the good feedback on here and HC, I dont think you can really go wrong with them.

BGavin this is interesting because I am looking at getting a 410 but do not want to lose the huge bottom of my 2x GS112 stack.

I'm interested, in measuring the volume @ 40hz for the GS112 cabinets. Mainly because it's not very easy to try out cabs for me.

I'd like to see more third-party measuring of available cabinets in order to see more realistic frequency response plots.

What else have you measured?
 
I have plots of many Bill Fitzmaurice builds, a few Fenders, Peaveys, Avatar, D410-XLT, and a Magnum 18LF.

The many charts I've made with TrueRTA run the high risk of being wrong, SPL-wise. That is why I cut the SPL numbers off when I publish a few of them.

I found a fatal bug in the data import function of TrueRTA, plus an annoying bug in the calibration/meter setup, and today found yet another fatal bug in the resolution transposition. This one gives totally inaccurate results in the lower resolutions, such as 1/3 octave, 1/6 octave when transposing down from 1/24th which is the measurement default.

The first two bug reports are in with John Murphy who is the author of TrueRTA. I have not reported the third one yet, as he tends to go into denial mode unless the proof is iron clad.

If anybody in the Sacramento area is interested in getting measured, all they have to do is contact me, and show up with their cab.
