Double Bass Avery Sharpe !

I was going over newbie upright bassists links and think we're missing a couple - Avery Sharpe , who was MCcoy Tyners bassist for 25 years is a serious bad ass especially his Arco . Reggie Workman is another bassist that any and every newb to upright jazz playing should hear .

Certainly agree about Reggie. I have always been curious about his lack of fame. To me he is one of the greats.

I used to see Avery with McCoy. Great bass player. Reggie is one of the greatest bass players EVER. Reggie has been doing innovative work in every decade. Reggie's entrance and playing on this album is probably my favorite:
