Here's one for you:

Jaco and various versions where he sings "Fannie May"??? Doubtless he had enough brain cells and duality left over from playing a relatively (for him) simple medium tempo swing/blues bass line, in which he could devote to singing.

Ahh the could haves and would haves...

I don't doubt he could have been an awesome singer as well as bass player. I don't think it is too much of a stretch in imagination (for those that really know the Jaco catalog) to see the bass prowess which was evident and compositional prowess, and growing piano prowess, that equally great singing could have been yet another facet spoken of in revered tones as the other aforementioned capacities.

Eh, I offer it for interesting discussion...

And Entwistle was an "awesome singer"?? Or was he an awesome bass player who also sang?

I don't think Sting has been mentioned yet.

I also notice that every time someone starts this thread topic, the names start getting repeated after the first fourteen responses. There just aren't very many cats who can sing and play bass at the same time, and do it well.

I'd agree on the bassist part....The work he did on Robert Lamm's solo album, "Subtly & Passion" is an absolute clinic on bass playing. And the music is the best "Chicago" album since Chicago V....


But Mr. Cetera, just has those natural golden pipes...I was listening on You tube just last night to some old footage...
